Disney Teen Superstar Miley Cyrus, 17, has admitted on Sirius XM’s “The Morning Mash Up!” that she “really, really liked” High School Musical star Zac Efron, 22.

“I think Zac Efron is the hottest person in the world. I really, really like him,” Miley raved. But the teen superstar doesn’t have any plans of stealing Zac Efron from his current girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens.

“Zac could get any girl…and do whatever, and he is so loyal and a really good friend…He’s just like super good looking,” Miley added.

“I can neither confirm nor deny,” Miley answered when asked to comment about rumors that she dated her “The Last Song” co-star Liam Hemsworth.

Actor Robert Pattinson wasn’t really sure about the whole vampire thingamajig when he first read the “Twilight Saga.” While researching about his role, Pattinson admit he had doubts about his “Edward Cullen” role.

Pattinson said: “I read the first book and found it quite good. But the description of my character is, from the first page on, completely ridiculous. It says, ‘He enters a room, and his beauty is almost painful.’”

Rob Pattinson, who can currently be seen in new movie The Twilight Saga: New Moon alongside co-stars Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart, said that he is unimpressed when he watched himself in the two films (Twilight and New Moon). He told Germany’s In Touch magazine that: “I’ve watched the movies twice but they didn’t wow me.”

Although Pattinson already signed to star in the third installment of the franchise, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, he is planning on becoming a pop star once he fulfills his commitments to the series. He shared: “I’ll record a few tracks as soon as I finish the promotion for the movies, but before I won’t do anything. I don’t want to release an album which has a sticker on it saying, ‘By the vampire of Twilight’, on it.”

US TV Giant ABC has announced today that it has landed a sit-down interview with Chris Brown. The R&B singer will be interrogated by Robin Roberts on ABC’s 20/20 this December 11, 2009. The singer said that this time he really is going to come clean and talk about his assault of his then girlfriend Rihanna.

The said interview has already been taped where the singer divulged details of the incident with his girlfriend.

Rihanna was also interviewed in the same show last November 5, 2009.

Chris Brown is currently performing community service as a part of his assault sentence. The ex-couple must also steer clear of each other until 2014 as a part of Brown’s probation terms.

Chris Brown’s upcoming album “Grafitti” debuts on December 8, 2009.

Despite their plans of settling down, actor and TV Host Edu Manzano has confirmed reports about his break up with broadcast journalist Pinky Webb.

“We have opted to go our separate ways and hope for the best,” actor Edu Manzano told ABS-CBN News. The actor also admitted that his decision to run as Vice-president on the May 2010 elections is one of the reasons of their break up.

The actor added that he doesn’t want his candidacy to affect Pinky Webb’s career as an ABS-CBN News Anchor.

“May buhay din siya, may buhay din ako,” Edu narrated. “At this point in time, we felt that we are going in different paths… It’s a very confusing situation, you know, when you think you are together with someone for a very long time…. But I guess it’s also very, very important that we all be allowed a certain degree of freedom to do what we want to do in life.”

Pinky Webb has yet to comment on the issue.

Filipino Actor Johnny Delgado, 61 dies of cancer

A sad day for the Philippine Entertainment industry—Veteran Filipino actor Johnny Delgado succumbed to cancer Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the age of 61, her daughter Ina Feleo and wife Laurice Guillen confirmed with ABS-CBN News.

The actor died a little past 1:00pm. Colleague Director Laurenti Dyogi expressed his sympathy to the bereaved via his Twitter account.

“Tatang johnny delgado passed away at 1:20pm, let’s pray for hs eternal repose.I worked wd him in kay tagal kang hinintay. Wonderful person,” Dyogi posted in his Twitter account.

Delgado was diagnosed with cancer in 2008 and since then he has been undergoing chemotherapy.

Delgado was born on February 29, 1948 to film director Ben Feleo and educator Victorina Marasigan. His real name is Juan Marasigan Feleo.

The veteran actor is survived by his wife, filmmaker and actress Laurice Guillen, and daughter, opera singer and theater actress Ina Feleo.

The actor last appeared in Star Cinema’s “You Got Me” with Toni Gonzaga and Sam Milby. His recent television roles were GMA 7’s “Kamandag” and ABS-CBN’s “Maria Flordeluna” and “May Bukas Pa.”

We all know that the second installment of the Twilight Saga, New Moon, will be showing in theaters worldwide this November (November 20 in Manila). Robert Pattinson will be relieved when he is finally allowed to cut his hair – because his famous locks have caused so many upsets on the Twilight movies.

The British actor plays heart-throb vampire Edward Cullen in the hit film franchise, and he’s become almost as well-known for his perfectly coiffed hairstyle as his onscreen performance.
But Pattinson admits he’s come to loathe his long locks, because movie bosses insist on keeping his hair perfect at all times.

He tells Entertainment Weekly, “In a lot of ways the hair is 75 per cent of my performance. So in the second one (movie) I said, ‘Listen, I need to tone down the hair. Let’s make it a little more real.’ In the third one, I’m doing fight scenes and there’s a strand going down my forehead and they’re like, ‘We need to do it again because no one will recognize you! No one will know who it is!’

“I’m like, ‘Really, is my face that generic?’ I have to look like the poster at all times. Just in case they want to use any clip for the trailer. Any clip at all! There were about five people in different departments who, because of my forelock, ended up in tears.”

Actor Patrick Swayze who starred in “Dirty Dancing,” “Point Break” and “Ghost” died on Monday, September 14, 2009 after 20 months of battling with pancreatic cancer. He was 57 years old.

“Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months,” his representative said in a statement.

He was also a singer-songwriter. He also acted Orry Main in the “North and South” television miniseries and portrayed Sam Wheat in the movie “Ghost.”

Swayze was listed by “People Magazine” as the “Sexiest Man Alive” in 1991.

Despite undergoing chemotherapy, Swayze continued working on his A&E series “The Beast” and never lost hope. Swayze added his illness in a Barbara Walters interview, which aired last January.

A month before, Swayze had issued a statement to PEOPLE Magazine in regard to speculation about his health, saying that such questions “cast a negative shadow on the positive and good fight I’m fighting.”

He is survived by his wife Lisa Niemi.

Michael Jackson's casket was topped with a jeweled crown by his children Prince and Paris during his burial service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif.

After weeks of speculations, false reports, and delays, the “King of Pop” was finally laid to rest at the Glendale Forest Lawn Cemetery, Los Angeles on Thursday, September 3, 2009, around 10 weeks after his death. The memorial, which was only reserved to close friends and family members of the late singer, began after a two-hour delay.

Elizabeth Taylor, Macaulay Culkin, and Quincy Jones were among the 200 invited guests. On the other hand, Jackson’s relatives also delivered memorial speeches, which unfortunately, were not broadcasted by any media outlets.

Michael Jackson’s gold-plated coffin was decorated with white and yellow flowers. Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris, honored her father by placing a bejeweled crown atop her father’s coffin.

After the memorial service, the coffin was then laid to rest in the Great Mausoleum, where Hollywood stars Humphrey Bogart, Errol Flynn, and Clark Gable are also buried.

The King of Pop died on June 25, 2009 after suffering a cardiac arrest and going into coma. Officials have already announced that it was a drug-induced death. The memorial was originally scheduled on August 29, the King of Pop’s birthday, but was postponed after several family members objected to the idea.

Meanwhile, the Jackson family released a statement shortly after the memorial, expressing their dismay on the media coverage of Michael Jackson’s “private memorial.”

“As a family, we are all aware of how Michael’s life, and his death, touched so many around the world,” Randy said. “It is why we held a public memorial in my brother’s honor. And it is the reason we chose to release a small amount of footage leading up to yesterday’s ceremony at Forest Lawn.

“I was dismayed last night and again today at the coverage I saw on television of our ceremony for Michael. We had asked the media to respect the privacy and the sanctity of this event; to give us one moment of privacy to mourn as a family out of the public spotlight.

“Unfortunately, despite a no-fly zone around Forest Lawn, many media organizations decided to ignore our wishes. They employed helicopters that not only surreptitiously recorded our private family ceremony, but also severely disrupted it.”

“I therefore ask today that media organizations airing helicopter footage of the ceremony we held for my brother immediately pull that footage from their air and refrain from airing it in the future,” Randy concluded.

Finally! The R&B star Chris Brown has been sentenced to five years probation and ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from his ex-girlfriend Rihanna for the same time.

The singer, who reached a plea deal with prosecutors in June 2009, to avoid jail, was in court on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 for sentencing in relation to his attack on his then girlfriend, Rihanna.

Los Angeles County Superior Court judge Patricia Schnegg also ordered Brown to take a yearlong domestic violence prevention class. He also faces six months of hard community labor in his native Virginia.

Brown was arrested in February 2009 for beating and threatening Rihanna during an argument following a pre-Grammy Awards party.

Both stars pulled out of their planned performances at the awards show immediately after the incident.

The sentencing will also cost Brown almost $6,000 – $5,000 in restitution and probation expenses. He must also pay a small criminal conviction fee and a $400 to a domestic violence fund.

Outside court, Rihanna’s lawyer Donald Etra said there were “no surprises” in the sentencing.

Speaking of his client, Etra said, “She was advised of what the plea agreement would be and she did not object that… The court just imposed the sentence envisaged by the plea agreement.

“She’s doing fine and she’s pursuing her career… She’s tremendously appreciative of the support her family, her friends and her fans have given her throughout the world.”

The burial of the “King of Pop” Michael Jackson has been delayed again. The “King of Pop” will be buried on September 3, 2009, according to the Jackson family’s publicist.

The pop star’s family had hoped to say their final farewells to Jackson on what would have been his 51st birthday, August 29, 2009, but that date was scrapped to allow them to make better burial plans.

Now, the family’s publicist, Ken Sunshine, has revealed there will be no burial on Michael Jackson’s 51st birthday as previously planned.

Sunshine says, “The date for Michael Jackson’s burial has been changed to Thursday, September 3, 2009, at 7pm PST (Pacific Standard Time).

“The private ceremony – at Holly Terrace in The Great Mausoleum at Glendale Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California – will be limited to family and close friends.” Jackson died on June 25, 2009.

A spokesman from the Jackson family have confirmed that Michael Jackson will be buried on what would have been the King of Pop’s 51st birthday, August 29, 2009.

After weeks of rumors, speculations, and erroneous reporting—the King of Pop will finally be buried in a mausoleum at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale.

The Jackson family spokesman tells Brink Notes Entertainment Daily:

“Michael Jackson will be laid to rest at Holly Terrace in The Great Mausoleum at Glendale Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale on Saturday, August 29, 2009, at 10:00am, on what would have been his 51st birthday.

“The private ceremony will be limited to family and close friends.

“The Jackson family once again wishes to express its gratitude to Michael’s fans around the world for their support during these difficult times.”

Jackson’s body has reportedly spent the past six weeks at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills, where the family staged a private memorial on the morning of a much more public service at the Staples Center in Los Angeles last July.

Vanessa Hudgens’ “Bandslam” co-stars are sick of the negativity aimed at the star following her recent nude photo scandal – insisting she gets bullied because she is dating heart-throb Zac Efron.

The young actress was left shame-faced again this month after pictures—allegedly showing the star posing topless—were leaked on the internet.

She faced further humiliation at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, August 9, 2009, when comic Dane Cook took the stage and told the whole audience that Hudgens needed to “keep” her clothes on.

Despite fans booing the funnyman at the event in support of the star, online forums have been buzzing with teenage critics of Hudgens’ antics. And her co-stars in latest movie “Bandslam” are tired of seeing their pal slated online—insisting she is a “sweet girl” who has done nothing wrong.

Actor Charlie Saxton says, “It’s so totally uncool. It’s like, come on. Give me a break.

“She’s such a sweet person, such a nice girl. She really doesn’t deserve all the negativity that she’s getting.”

And fellow actress Aly Michalka believes the negative comments stem from jealousy about her relationship with hunk Efron.

She explains, “I think that it’s about people being hard on people just to be hard on them. It’s hard to avoid that sometimes… I think it really is based on that and I think maybe her being with Zac (Efron).”

Hudgens faced a similar scandal in 2007 when pictures of her posing provocatively both nude and in lingerie appeared online – forcing the Disney star to issue a public apology.

Reports over the weekend from August 8-9, 2009 claimed the Jackson family held a private burial on Thursday, August 6, 2009 and laid the singer to rest at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles’ Hollywood Hills.

The news coincided with reports that Jackson’s brain, which was removed as part of the investigation into his death, was returned to the family by coroners.

However, Joe Jackson insists the family has still yet to decide on a resting place for the Thriller icon – seven weeks after his death in June 2009, according to E! Online.

The family has been dogged by rumours of a disagreement over the King of Pop’s remains, with his mother Katherine reportedly asking for her son to be interred at Forest Lawn and his brother Jermaine pushing for a burial at Jackson’s Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara, California.

MICHAEL JACKSON has reportedly been laid to rest.

The King Of Pop is believed to have been interred in a mausoleum owned by his close friend, Motown mogul Berry Gordy, in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles’ Hollywood Hills on Thursday, August 6, 2009.

Family members, including Jackson’s dad Joe and sister La Toya, were present at the secret ceremony, reports Britain’s Daily Star.

The final farewell took place just hours after Jackson’s brain was returned to the clan, following the organ’s removal by coroners for testing to determine the cause of death.

A source tells the newspaper, “After Michael’s high-profile funeral, the family were desperate to say goodbye privately and away from the cameras. His mother Katherine in particular was very uncomfortable with his body being in pieces due to the autopsies and wanted him laid to rest as soon as they were allowed.

“Within hours of the brain being returned, Michael was placed in the crypt. There was a casual ceremony with around 20 close friends and family.

“There were no prayers said, no speeches, everyone just reflected silently on their personal memories of Michael.” And former friend of Jackson’s, Uri Geller, has indicated that the reports are true.

He tells British morning show GMTV, “As far as I understand he has (been buried), but rumours are flying constantly non stop.” Jackson died on June 25, 2009 after suffering a cardiac arrest. His family staged a private ceremony at the Forest Lawn funeral home before celebrating his life at a televised star-studded event at the Staples Center in L.A. last month (July 2009).

Victoria Beckham is “beyond excited” to be joining reality TV show American Idol as a guest judge because she’s long been a fan of the series.

The former Spice Girl will appear alongside Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi for a one-off episode when the hit show returns to TV screens next year (2010).

Beckham is overjoyed to have been offered the role, because she and her kids with husband David Beckham are regulars at the show’s Los Angeles tapings.

In an interview with radio DJ Ryan Seacrest, who is also host of American Idol, she says, “When I got the phone call, I just couldn’t believe it. I feel like I’ve got the best job that there is.

“I come to the shows with the kids and David loves the show so, it’s just great. I’m going to try hard to pout and try not to shatter that illusion that I’m a moody cow, but I’m just so happy.”

Beckham is looking forward to having words with Cowell too, who has earned himself a reputation as Mr. Nasty, thanks to his sharp tongue: “I like that fact that’s he’s honest. I think he’s very funny. He has a very tongue-in-cheek British sense of humour, which I have too. I’m looking forward to a bit of banter. I hope he does give me a little bit of a hard time. I love that. I feed off of that.”

The singer-turned-fashion designer will appear in place of Paula Abdul after she quit the show.

And Beckham has nothing but kind words for the star: “I hope she does something that’s bigger and better. I’m a big fan of Paula’s, I always have been, of her music. She’s going to be great at whatever she does.”

PAULA ABDUL is moving on from the controversy surrounding her departure from AMERICAN IDOL – insisting she’s been bombarded with “wonderful offers” since leaving the show.

The 47 year old announced on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, longrunning negotiations had fallen through and she had quit the U.S. talent series after eight seasons.

Abdul has been candid about considering a new role on the small screen on popular TV competition “So You Think You Can Dance” – just weeks after the show’s judge Nigel Lythgoe revealed he would welcome the singer to the programme “without question”.

But the star insists she won’t be jumping into a new job without careful consideration.

She says, “At this point, there are so many wonderful things that are being offered to me. And I got (sic) to take a deep breath, sleep a little… and go through everything.

“And I got (sic) to tell you, I’m never going to change who I am at the core. I’m a hard worker, I love working hard and nothing gives me more joy than to be on a project and working with people who are trying to achieve the same goal. And that’s where I’m at right now.”

According to TMZ.com, the toxicology results confirm the rumours – and reveal Jackson also had traces of anxiety drug Xanax, generically known as alprazolam, in his blood. But it was the presence of Propofol which has drawn attention to authorities.

A law enforcement source tells the website, “(Propofol is) front and center in terms of why (Jackson) died.” Jackson’s death is being investigated by officers from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), who have confirmed they are considering a charge of manslaughter against the King of Pop’s personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray. The medic is believed to be responsible for supplying Jackson with prescription drugs.

Millions of fans all over the world watched Michael Jackson’s public memorial at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Tuesday, July 7, 2009 (Wednesday Manila time). International and local networks (whether radio or TV) have interrupted their regular programming to cover the event.

The Jackson Family, close friends and thousands of Michael Jackson fans, attended the public memorial.

As The Andrae Crouch Choir started singing gospel tune We Are Going To See The King, the King of Pop’s coffin, covered with red roses, was carried through the Staples Center, where 18,000 people had gathered to pay tribute to the late star.

Following a moment of silence, Pastor Lucius Smith took to the stage to begin the memorial service to the King of Pop. He recalled that the late star had been performing at Staples Center in the days leading up to his death.

He stated, “As long as we remember him, he will be there forever to comfort us. In his very beautiful and human heart, Michael Jackson wanted nothing more than to give love to the world…
and perhaps be loved back in return.”

After the pastor’s solemn words, Mariah Carey hit the stage to begin the celebrity performance tributes with her rendition of Jackson 5 hit “I’ll Be There,” as images of Jackson appeared on a big screen behind her.
Trey Lorenz, who recorded a 1992 duet of the song, which became Carey’s first worldwide number one, joined her onstage.

Carey finished her tribute by stating, “We miss you.”

On the other hand, Queen Latifah delivered a poem by Maya Angelou in tribute to Michael Jackson.

Latifah said, “Michael was the biggest star on earth.”

She added, “He let me know that, as an African-American, you could travel the world.”

The singer/actress then read out Angelou’s touching tribute, We Had Him, in which the poet called Jackson “a bright and shining star”.

Britain’s Got Talent finalist Shaheen Jafargholi performed the Jackson 5 hit “Who’s Loving You.”

He then added his own personal tribute to the late pop superstar, stating, “I just wanna say I love Michael Jackson and I tell you now I just wanna thank him so much for blessing me and every single individual on this earth with his amazing music.”

The young Brit was invited by Jackson to join him onstage as part of his planned comeback concerts in London.

Michael Jackson’s longtime friend Brooke Shields fought back tears at the late star’s memorial as she recalled magical moments with the King of Pop when they were just kids.

The actress insisted her pal was “one of a kind” and revealed the pair could never quite understand why the media was so mean about their friendship.
The ultimate tribute to Michael Jackson is to be debated before the House of Representatives – a resolution declaring the King of Pop an “American legend”.

Jermain Jackson performed “Smile,” a song written by Charlie Chaplin, Michael’s favorite song.

Texas congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee announced Resolution 600 would be presented to politicians this week.

She told the cheering masses at the Staples Center, “It claims Michael Jackson as an American Legend and musical icon, a world humanitarian (and) someone who will be honored forever and forever and forever and forever and forever.” She concluded her stirring speech by stating, “We are the world and we are better because Michael Joseph Jackson lived… Michael Jackson, I salute you.”

Motown founder Berry Gordy said that Michael is like a son to him. He also said that Michael “accomplished everything he dreamed of. At 10 years old, he had passion — passion to be the greatest entertainer in the world.”

For Gordy, the title “King of Pop” is insufficient. Instead he called Michael “simply the greatest entertainer that ever lived.”

Several personalities also took the stage during the public memorial service including Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson, Rev. Al Sharpton, Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Usher, Lionel Richie, Martin Luther King III among others.

Michael Jackson’s daughter Paris had the last word at her late father’s memorial service in Los Angeles—as she had the world sobbing for her loss.

The 11 year old took to the stage at the end of the tribute to join her aunts and uncles in remembering the King of Pop, who died on June 25, 2009.

And few were able to hold back tears as she cried, “Ever since I was born, daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine and I just wanted to say I love him so much.”

It is still unknown where Michael Jackson’s body would be buried. But, his newly released death certificate listed Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills as a “temporary” burial site. The cause of death is still unknown.

More than 17,000 fans of Michael Jackson will get the chance to bid their final goodbyes to the late “King of Pop” at an official memorial service at the Staple Center in Los Angeles on Tuesday, June 7, 2009.

In a press conference last Friday morning, July 3, 2009, at the Staples Center, AEG Live President and CEO Tim Leiweke announced the rules for the tribute to Michael Jackson next week

The AEG Live boss stated he hoped the event would be a “dignified and very uplifting memorial for the Jackson family”, which has made available a “worldwide (TV) pool feed from the services for every network for free.”

“We request and encourage everyone to join us for the memorial service by following the worldwide pool. There will be no funeral procession.”

E! has already announced that they’ll be covering the public memorial live.

Councilwoman Perry added, “I want to stress to those people who are coming or thinking about coming here to our city for this special event that you might want to consider watching this from the comfort of your own home.”

Publicist Sunshine stated, “No details are forthcoming about the memorial; it’s still being developed.”

TICKETS
AEG’s Tim Leiweke said, “The family has also made available 17,500 tickets for Michael’s fans to be part of this service. 11,000 of those tickets will be at Staples Center, 6,500 of those tickets will be at the Nokia Theatre for a simulcast of the funeral on three big screens across the street.”

Fans will be able to register for tickets on Staples Center’s official website until 6pm on Saturday, July 4, 2009. Those people selected in a lottery will be alerted on Sunday, July 5, 2009, and they will be able to pick up tickets and wristbands on Monday, July 6, 2009.

Staples Center’s official website, www.staplescenter.com, received more than 120,000 hits per second for the first 90 minutes of Friday’s Michael Jackson memorial ticket giveaway.

Over 500 million people had already visited the site, which caused the website’s server to crash a couple of times. An additional server was brought in to accommodate the volume of traffic.

Leiweke, whose company is planning the memorial, insisted, “There will be no tickets sold for this memorial service… There will be no distribution of tickets at Staples Center… There will be no outside broadcast of the memorial service in or around Staples Center of L.A. Live.

JACKSON’S BURIAL SUIT
Dennis Tompkins and Michael Bush, Michael Jackson’s longtime costumers, will design the King of Pop’s burial suit.

Tompkins and Bush, who have worked with Jackson for the last 20 years, were also responsible for creating the late pop star’s “This is It” comeback concerts costumes in London.

PRIVATE MEMORIAL
A private family funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, July 7, 2009 in Los Angeles before a public memorial at the Staples Center.

Some reports said that Jackson will be laid to rest in a replica of James Brown’s bronze casket at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, where his grandmother was buried in 1990.

Other stars including Lucille Ball, Bette Davis and Liberace are also buried at the Forest Lawn.

JACKSON’S DOCTOR
Michael Jackson’s personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray has decided not to attend the King of Pop’s memorial service next week for he fears that his presence might be too much for grieving fans and family members.

Dr. Conrad Murray was by Jackson’s bedside when the King of Pop died on June 25, 2009; he conducted CPR on the singer after finding him unconscious at his rented home in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles.

Police have questioned Murray about his treatment of Jackson.

The doctor has decided not to be a part of next week’s tributes, stating he’ll be “mourning in private”.

His spokeswoman, Miranda Sevcik, tells People.com, “He (Murray) is in seclusion, not speaking even with family and friends, and won’t attend the singer’s memorial next week.

“He feels his presence would remind people of Michael Jackson’s death, and the doctor would prefer that people remember his friend as he was in life.”

Murray has declined to comment publicly on his care of Jackson, pending the outcome of toxicology tests.

Sevcik adds, “He is completely off the radar until the toxicology results are revealed.”

A stash of Michael Jackson’s “secret recordings” could be set for release, according to former CEO of Sony Music Tommy Mottola. The material includes unused tracks from studio sessions of some of Jackson’s top albums, as well as more recently recorded songs made with R&B singer Akon and Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am.

Mottola says, “There are dozens and dozens of songs that did not end up on his albums. People will be hearing a lot of that unreleased material for the first time ever. There’s just some genius and brilliance in there.”

He adds that the releases “could go on for years and years – even more than Elvis.”

Akon completed just one song with Jackson – entitled Hold My Hand – and he’s determined to keep all their other work “locked up in the vault” until the Jackson family decides how to use it.

He adds, “It was all positive records – songs to uplift people, songs to make people think about the problems in life. It was all about bringing people together.”

The news comes just days after Queen star Brian May revealed Jackson made a series of recordings with Freddie Mercury in the 1980s “which have never seen the light of day.”

The Jackson family has confirmed the news reports about a planned public viewing of Michael Jackson’s remains at his former Neverland Ranch have been scrapped.

The remains of the King of Pop were expected to arrive at the Santa Barbara County, California Estate on Thursday, July 2, 2009, ahead of the scheduled public viewing on Friday, July 3, 2009. Some reports said that Jackson would be laid to rest at Neverland—the home he deserted after investigators raided it looking for evidence to use against the singer in his 2004 child molestation trial.

Unfortunately, fans and media members who camped outside the ranch in Santa Barbara, in the hope to be part of the King of Pop’s big farewell, have wasted their money, and effort.

A recent statement from the Jackson family said, “Contrary to previous news reports… there will be no public or private viewing at Neverland.

“Plans are underway regarding a public memorial for Michael Jackson.”

But, CNN reported this morning that Michael Jackson’s funeral will take place on Tuesday, June 7, 2009 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Lindsay Lohan, who turns 23 tomorrow, Thursday, July 2, 2009, received a present she would never forget. The “Mean Girls” star was paid $70,000 to host her very own birthday bash at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Unfortunately (or fortunately), her ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson was not spotted on the event.

A Brink Notes Entertainment Daily source said that the venue gave Lindsay Lohan just for the actress to enjoy herself at the poolside event last Saturday, June 27, 2009. Lohan also posed for the photographers-slash-paparazzis.

The event at the hotel’s Wet Republic pool served as a promotion for Lindsay Lohan’s Sevin Nyne self-tanning mist. She changed bathing suits for five times and even dressed like Michael Jackson. The actress danced to Michael Jackson hits for the rest of the event.

LOS ANGELES — Conrad Murray, a 56-year-old cardiologist who tried to resuscitate Michael Jackson after the latter collapsed at his home met with the Los Angeles police detectives Saturday afternoon (Los Angeles time). The police clarified that they are not conducting a criminal investigation.

A statement from the Los Angeles Police Department said that detectives conducted “an extensive interview” with Dr. Murray. The interview lasted for three hours. The statement also said that the doctor was “cooperative and provided information which will aid the investigation.”

Recent reports said that the Jackson family has ordered a second autopsy to help determine Mr. Jackson’s cause of death. Mr. Jackson, who was preparing for a series of concerts in London, suffered cardiac arrest and died at the UCLA Medical Center last Thursday.

Edward Chernoff, Dr. Murray’s lawyer also released a statement saying that they had “answered every and all questions asked by L.A.P.D. in an attempt to help piece together the mysteries surrounding” and tried to clarify “some inconsistencies.” The statement also clarified that Dr. Murray is not a suspect but a witness to this tragedy and will remain in Los Angeles  ”until investigators no longer need his assistance with the investigation.”

The coroner’s office had returned Mr. Jackson’s body to his family late Friday but is still waiting for the results of tests before ruling on a cause of death. The results are expected to be out in a few weeks.

LOS ANGELES (BNO NEWS) — Michael Jackson, often referred to as “The King of Pop”, died at the age of 50 on Thursday afternoon after suffering a cardiac arrest, the Los Angeles Times reported while citing law enforcement and city sources. CBS News also confirmed the news.

Jackson was taken to UCLA hospital in Los Angeles after a 911 call at 12.21 p.m. (LA time). When paramedics arrived at his home in Holmby Hills they performed CPR and arrived at the hospital in a “deep coma”. Streets surrounding the hospital are blockaded by police with yellow tape.

The cause of death was not immediately known. Both OK! Magazine and TMZ.com also confirmed his death.

Jackson took to the stage as a child star and set the world dancing to the thumping rhythms of his music in the 1970s. He was planning a comeback this year.

Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince “Blanket” Michael Jackson II.

Katherine Jackson, Michael Jackson’s mother, has arrived at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. International and local news organizations have gathered the at medical facility awaiting official updates on Michael Jackson’s condition from the hospital administration.

Jackson was pronounced dead at 2:26pm, Thursday, June 25, 2009 (LA time).

GMA-7 actor Richard Gutierrez and his bodyguard suffered injuries after a vehicular accident in Silang, Cavite early Friday, ABS-CBN’s “Umagang Kay Ganda” reports.

The actor’s assistant identified as Norman Pardo died in the accident.

The actor and his bodyguard were first brought to the Tagaytay Hospital. The actor was then transferred to the Asian Hospital in Muntinlupa City where he underwent a surgery.

“Bale bumangga po sa poste, malalim ang lugar na binagsakan niya. Medyo may bangin at bumangga sa puno ng niyog,” said PO1 Bonifacio Tañola of Cavite Police said in a radio interview.

Some reports said that it was the actor who was driving the car.

Gutierrez, his bodyguard and his assistant came from the filming of the actor’s new television series “Full House.”

Health Secretary Francisco Duque has advised Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao and his entourage to postpone their flight back to the Philippines as a safety measure against swine flu.

The boxing champion is scheduled to be back in the Philippines on Friday, May 8, 2009 after his victory against Britain’s Ricky Hatton. The Palace has already announced that Friday would be a “national day of celebration” for Pacquiao’s homecoming and victory over Hatton.

There were confirmed cases of H1N1 virus in Las Vegas where the Pacquiao-Hatton fight was held and Duque is hoping that Pacquiao and his entourage would “self-quarantine” to be sure they don’t have the virus. Duque also added that it would take five days for swine flu symptoms to appear.

The Department of Health has also said that “there were concerns that the motorcade, which was due to drive through Manila in celebration, could pose a risk of spreading the virus.”

No confirmed cases of swine flu have reported in the Philippines but there are some cases, which are under observation.

The National Historical Institute (NHI) of the Philippines has claimed Tuesday morning that singer Martin Nievera who sang the Philippine National Anthem during the Pacquiao-Hatton fight Sunday (Philippine time) violated the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines (Republic Act 8491).

It is stipulated in Republic Act 8491, Section 37 that “the rendition of the National Anthem, whether played or sung, shall be in accordance with the musical arrangement and composition of Julian Felipe.”

“Mali ang pagkanta niya. … dapat sinundan niya ang nakalagay sa batas,” Teddy Atienza, head of the Heraldry Division, National Historial Institute said in a radio interview Tuesday morning.

Atienza also quoted the Section 50 of same Republic Act that states: “Any person or juridical entity which violates any of the provisions of this Act shall, upon conviction, be punished by a fine of not less than Five thousand pesos (P5,000) nor more than Twenty thousand pesos (P20,000), or by imprisonment for not more than one (1) year, or both such fine and imprisonment, at the discretion of the court.”

It would be noticed that on the GMA broadcast of the Pacquiao-Hatton fight, the logo of the National Historical Institute with the caption “Approved by the National Historical Institute” was flashed after Nievera sang the Philippine National Anthem, which implies that the Institute approved Nievera’s version.

Martin Nievera was chosen by Manny Pacquiao to sing the national anthem in his fight with Ricky Hatton and was reported here in Brink Notes Entertainment Daily last April 8, 2009.

Nievera said that Pacquiao asked him to sing the anthem not in a slow tempo but in a march like tempo.

“Well, it’s going to be very hard for me to apologize for something that I am not sorry for. I did not ask to do the anthem. Manny Pacquiao himself asked me to sing the national anthem,” Nievera said in a statement.

Adam Cook, brother of American Idol 2008 winner David Cook has succumbed to cancer after battling it for more than a decade, PEOPLE Magazine reports.

David Cook announced the sad news at the 12th annual Race for Hope 5k in Washington, D.C. Cook is scheduled to come to the capital of Philippines, Manila for a concert with American Idol 2008 runner-up David Archuleta.

“I actually lost my brother yesterday to a brain tumor and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else right now,” he told the crowd.

Adam, Cook’s brother, 37 battled the disease during David’s American Idol competition and had a chance to see his brother perform live at the Idol stage while undergoing chemotherapy.

“I’m not going to lie to you. He still has a tough road ahead of him,” Adam’s longtime friend Darrick Scott had told PEOPLE. “But this trip to Los Angeles has put a whole new pep in his step.”

Idol judges expressed their condolences including Simon Cowell.

“I was incredibly saddened to hear the news,” he said in a statement to PEOPLE.

“I met Adam Cook a few times at American Idol. He was an incredible guy, and right now my thoughts are with David and his family.”

Filipino Boxing Champion Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao won against Ricky “Hitman” Hatton by means of technical knockout in the second round of their fight for the IBO light welterweight title Saturday night (Sunday, Manila time) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

During the first round, Pacquiao has knocked Hatton down twice. While in the final seconds of the second round, Pacquiao finished Hatton with an intense left hand that left the latter lying on his back and motionless. Doctors rushed to Hatton as Pacquiao’s corner celebrated victory.

Pacquiao made history by taking titles in different weight class.

Singer Martin Nievera sang the Philippine National Anthem before the fight, which is attended by big personalities including Oscar de la Hoya, Jack Nicholson and Mariah Carey.

A teary-eyed Kris Aquino faced ABS-CBN.com in an exclusive interview where she shared how disappointed she is when Mar Roxas and Korina Sanchez broke the “big news” about their engagement and upcoming wedding on Willie Revillame’s “Wowowee” instead of the actress’ TV show.

Kris and SNN co-host Boy Abunda had “went out on a limb” to have an exclusive sit-down interview with the couple.

“Sinabi ko kay Boy, ‘Let’s protect this exclusive’ and let’s give them the concessions di ba? Ipinakausap ko ‘to. If it is exclusive, alagaan mo. Pwedeng humingi ng concessions sa’yo na lahat ng pag-aalaga gagawin mo ‘di ba? Hiningi ko to kay Boy. Sinabi ko, ‘Come election time, you can choose who you want [to campaign for]. Pero can you do this for me now? At least for the next few weeks.’ Prinomise nila sa [amin] ‘yung sit-down, lahat ng detalye…everything,” the actress said.

Due to unexpected turn of events, the exclusive interview with the couple was pushed back but the plans were diverted when the couple appeared on “Wowowee.”

“Alam ko hindi nila kasalanan, hindi nila ginusto. Pero napahiya talaga ako kasi ako ‘yung nakiusap. And then, ‘yung staff ilang weeks din ‘yun, na every week meron (news about Korina and Mar) because you are building it up nga for the exclusive you thought was yours…I was honest enough to say I felt we were used and discarded,” she said.

The couple informed Aquino that they would be appearing on Revillame’s show for an interview regarding the couple’s engagement and upcoming wedding.

Aquino has also shared that Mar Roxas and Korina Sanchez have reached out to her to make peace.

“Six arrangement[s] of flowers ang pinadala… [meron din] letter si Korina, it’s really heartfelt. Maski si Mar ang haba ng text and all. Umabot pa sa point na si [Star Magic head] Mr. M (Johnny Manahan) at si [Vice President for Talent Development] Mariole (Alberto) nag-explain. Sabi ko wala. Walang isyu sa amin ni Willie (Revillame). (UPDATE 10:00pm) – Several reports were published that actress Judy Ann Santos and actor Ryan Agoncillo have tied the knot Tuesday morning at the San Juan Nepomuceno Church in San Juan, Batangas. Fr. Tito Caluag officiated the nuptial mass.

The ceremony was closed to the media. The wedding, which lasted for almost an hour, was attended by big showbiz personality like Senator Francis Pangilinan, wife Sharon Cuneta, and daughter KC Concepcion, Suzy Entrata, Paolo Abrera, Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, and directors Joyce Bernal and Rory Quintos.

Megastar Sharon Cuneta acted as the matron of honor while Dondi, Ryan Agoncillo’s brother stood as best man.

The list of Ryan and Judy Ann’s principal sponsors includes Mon Isberto, Smart Communications spokesman; Bien Bautista, Ace photographer; Benjie Gonzales, Ryan’s uncle from the US; Susie Entrata-Abrera, TV Host; Rory Quintos, TV & Movie Director; and Jane Buencamino, Judy Ann’s road manager.

The bride walked down the aisle to the song “Runaway” sung live by Agot Isidro. Couple Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid also sang “The Prayer” during the offertory while Agot Isidro and Ogie Alcasid sang the communion song “One Hand, One Heart.”

ABS-CBN News reported that a breakfast/lunch wedding reception was held at a private resort, still in San Juan, Batangas. A beachfront dinner reception  then followed at around 4:00pm and is still ongoing as of this writing in Anilao, Batangas.

The wedding suppliers are mum about the big showbiz wedding as the couple imposed a P5-million fine to anyone who would leak the details of the wedding.

“Eto na. Inuman na. Punta kang nakaputi.” are the words written on the wedding invitation that comes with a piece of slipper.

Actor Ryan Agoncillo proposed to the actress last year during the celebration of the actress’ 30th birthday.

The making of the wedding and the wedding ceremony itself would be broadcasted by ABS-CBN on Sunday, May 17, 2009.

The two will be seen on the upcoming television series “George and Cecil.”

Mother of “Slumdog Millionaire” star Dev Patel has confirmed that his son is dating co-star Freida Pinto days after the two were caught kissing during a night out in Israel.

The couple has earlier dismissed the rumors that they are seeing each other even after co-star Anil Kapoor has hinted that Dev and Freida were an item.

Anita, the 18-year-old actor’s mom has announced the happy news that the couple is blissfully into place.

“First it was the film, and now everything else seems (sic) to have slotted into place.

“Life can’t get any better for him. Freida is really beautiful and I am really happy for them. Yes, we knew he was flying to Israel to see her,” said Dev’s mom.

The live show of the noontime game show “Wowowee” last Saturday, April 25, 2009 was a bit unusual for broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez was in the show as a guest co-host. Having guest co-hosts is normal for the show during Saturdays, but the show last Saturday is really different.

Evening of Friday, April 24, 2009, I started receiving reports from friends that something “big” would happen in the show and an “announcement” would also be made. Come Saturday, I turned on my TV and saw Korina Sanchez and Mar Roxas in the show talking about their wedding proposal and upcoming wedding and so the supposed to be game show suddenly turned into an afternoon talk show (What’s with the blue balloons on the set?).

The senator, in his usual blue polo shirt shared how he proposed to the broadcast journalist: “Ang setting ay nasa resort kami, at gabi. Nadidinig ‘yung hampas ng alon, at siyempre magkatabi kami. Kami lang at nagho-holding hands. Sinabi ko naman sa kanya na, ‘tayo na nga talaga ito kaya I want to formally ask for your hand in the church.’ ‘Yun lang ang naaalala ko naiiyak ako sa tuwa, eh.”

The senator did cry a little during the “interview” and Korina would wipe the senator’s tears. How sweet!

So, when asked for his message to her wife-to-be the senator said: “Matagal na rin tayong nagsasama at alam mo naman how I feel about you at gusto kong malaman mo na buong-buo nang loob ko. Walang kahit anong tanong sa puso ko at sa isip ko na tayo na nga habambuhay.”

So when will the wedding bells ring? Your guess is as good as mine. But, congratulations to Korina Sanchez and Mar Roxas.

Actress Marian Rivera is set to play the role of “Darna” on its return to Philippine television after the TV adaptation in 2005 starring Angel Locsin.

Fans and supporters of the actress have been speculating for months on who will play the Filipina superhero. Rumors that Marian would play the role of Darna were proven to be true when GMA Network executives finally announced last April 23 that Marian is truly the new “Darna”.

Wilma Galvante, GMA Network’s Senior vice-president for Entertainment said that executives and people behind the production were unanimous in giving Marian Rivera the coveted role.

The actress said: “Nagulat talaga ako!

“Hindi ko ito alam. Akala ko may pag-uusapan lang na new project. Yun pala, may surprise sila sa akin. Maraming salamat sa GMA-7 at patuloy ang tiwala nila sa akin.”

There is still no definite date when the filming for the upcoming television series would start.

Singer-TV host Vina Morales gave birth to her first child with boyfriend Cedric Lee, Saturday morning. Vina’s baby girl who she named Ceana weighs 6.9 lbs and was born at around 8:47am at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center, San Juan City.

In a television interview, Vina’s younger sister, Shaina Magdayao shared that Baby Ceana resembles Vina.

“Ang cute, cute. Ang puti… Medyo kahawig ni Ate Vina,” Magdayao said.

“We’re all very happy. Excited na kaming mahawakan. Sabi nga namin, sa malayo pa lang, all boys kasi ‘yong kasama niya doon sa nursery, pagkanasilip mo siya, makikita mo girl na girl ang itsura,” the actress added.

Shaina also shared that her sister Vina had a hard time delivering the baby.

AN UPDATE – Indian Police finally concluded Wednesday that Rafiq Qureshi, father of “Slumdog Millionaire” star Rubina Ali did not try to sell her daughter for $300,000.

“So far there is no evidence of any offense, hence there is no registration of complaint and no arrest,” Police Senior Officer Nisar Tamboli said.

Qureshi has been arrested and quizzed for several hours by police in Mumbai few days ago, amid claims from Rubina’s mother Khurshida that she knew about the sale.

Reuters also reported that” a charitable trust from Qatar offered to pay for Rubina’s education, which is already being taken care off by the producers of the film.

The family is willing to accept any help, although Rubina’s education was already taken care off.

Vanessa Hudgens is set to get romantic with Alex Pettyfer – the actor and Burberry model is in talks to play the High School Musical sweetheart’s love interest in a modern day Beauty and the Beast film.

The hunky 19 year old is the front-runner to land the role Hudgens’ real-life boyfriend Zac Efron was once considered for.

Miss Hudgens will play the romantic lead in director Daniel Barnz’s modern take on the fairytale, Beastly, which is based on Alex Finn’s novel of the same name. The film is to be shot in Manhattan this summer.

And, Pettyfer, who starred in Wild Child opposite Emma Roberts, is all set to play her beast.

People dubbed “Ang Lalaking Nagmahal sa Akin” to be the Pinoy version of the Jennifer Lopez film “Maid in Manhattan.”

“’Yon din ang naisip ko actually, ‘Maid in Manhattan’ Hollywood version pero this is the Pinoy version talaga at makaka-relate ‘yong may mga ganitong pinagdadaanan. Pang-Pinoy talaga,” Gonzaga said.

Toni Gonzaga expressed her excitement to be finally working with one of the most sought-after leading men of ABS-CBN, Derek Ramsay.

“This time makaka-partner ko na siya, walang expectation. I’m just really looking forward sa mga eksena namin at sa trabaho naming gagawin kasi feeling ko magiging maganda ‘yong kalalabasan niya at magdadala dito yung kwento mismo,” the actress said.

Ellen Pompeo who plays the role of Meredith Grey on ABC’s hit television series “Grey’s Anatomy” is going to be a mother soon.

Ellen Pompeo and husband Chris Ivery are expecting their first child together, Pompeo’s publicist Jennifer Allen said but did not give a due date.

“It’s great news,” says Allen. “They’re ecstatic.”

The 38-year-old actress and 41-year-old Ivery, a record producer dated for four years and finally tied the knot last November 2007 in a ceremony at the New York City Hall.

People Magazine reported that the lead star of the ABC medical-drama series was spotted shopping for baby gear in Los Angeles.

In ABS-CBN’s “The Buzz” last Sunday, Kim Chiu admitted that her parents’ separation is one of the major reasons why she’s not yet ready to commit with anyone.

Kim Chiu said: “Ayokong masaktan muna. Siyempre lagi yan di ba, pag mag-boyfriend, mag-girlfriend laging nasasaktan?”

The actress also added that it might take some time before she gets into a serious relationship. She is also thankful to her onscreen partner Gerald Anderson for not pressuring her to jump into a relationship. Anderson has publicly admitted his feelings for the actress.

“Hindi naman siya nangungulit. Hindi rin siya laging nagtatanong, parang wala lang. Walang tanungan kung, ‘ano na ba tayo’ hindi siya makulit kaya okay naman siya,” the “Tayong Dalawa” actress said.

In the same live interview with “The Buzz,” the actress expressed her gratitude to her family based in Cebu who is there to support her.

“Thank you dahil lagi silang nandiyan. Kapag wala akong time, tumatawag sila. Tapos pumupunta [sila] dito sa Manila tapos sinu-surprise nila ako… tsaka nagta-trabaho naman ako para sa kanila,” the teary-eyed actress said.

In the upcoming Star Cinema film starring Sarah Geronimo and Rayver Cruz, it was reported that Toni Gonzaga would also be part of the film but as a supporting actress.

The news has shocked the fans of Toni Gonzaga saying that “bankability” and “popularity-wise” the actress shouldn’t be portraying support roles.

But when the singer-actress was asked to give his side on the issue, the actor said: “Wala po akong problema sa mga roles na ibinibigay sa akin kasi ang importatnte po sa akin eh magtrabaho kasi mahal ko naman yung ginagawa ko and wala pong problem. Sana wag nilang gawan ng isyu yun and maliit lang yung industriya na pinagtra-trabahuan namin.

BBC News has reported that the father of Slumdog Millionaire child actress Rubina Ali denied that he is trying to sell the 9-year-old actress.

Rafiq Qureshi, father of Rubina said that he did not accept the deal to sell the young star into adoption.

A report published by News of the World said that Qureshi is demanding for $300,000 from the undercover reporter posing for a wealthy Arab sheik that wanted to adopt Rubina. (Read related story)

Qureshi said that the media made fun of their poverty.

“They tricked us into this fakery but we came out unscathed,” said Qureshi, who works as a carpenter in Mumbai.

In an interview with BBC News, Qureshi said that “he had been trapped into a situation of ‘great temptation’ but he firmly denied accepting any deal to sell his daughter or agree for her to be adopted.” (Check out the full BBC interview with Rafiq Qureshi on the BBC News website.)

Police are now investigating the allegations that Qureshi tried to sell her daughter for $300,000. Although he denied the allegations, he has been arrested and quizzed for several hours by police in Mumbai, amid claims from Rubina’s mother Khurshida that she knew about the sale two weeks ago.

Khurshida, who abandoned the family in 2001, says, “My elder daughter had informed me… I did not believe he would actually go through with it.”

A police spokesperson tells British newspaper The Sun, “Khurshida was very upset by the media reports and she came to lodge a complaint. We are registering her grievance and then we’ll investigate and decide what further steps should be taken in the matter.

“When we questioned Rubina she said she does not want to go anywhere and wants to live with her father.”

Meanwhile, Slumdog Millionaire producer Christian Colson has revealed movie bosses are attempting to intervene in the scandal.

He says, “Our friends and colleagues in Mumbai are trying to speak with Mr Qureshi to get to the bottom of what happened.”

Singer Madonna is heading back to court in Malawi on May to appeal a ruling blocking her from adopting three-year-old Mercy James.

A court in Lilongwe, capital of Malawi last April 3, 2009 denied the singer’s request for an interim adoption of the Malawi baby. The adoption bid failed because of the requirement that prospective parents must be a resident of Malawi for 18 to 24 months.

Madonna’s legal counsel lodged an appeal against the decision after receiving the court’s decision. Malawi’s Supreme Court has set a May 4 hearing to decide on the case.

Alan Chinula, Madonna’s lawyer is hopeful of a successful appeal as the initial rejection was based “on an archaic law of over 50 years ago.”

Madonna’s adoption of Malawian child David Banda, three, was made official last 2008 following two years of legal wrangling. She is also a mother to Rocco, eight, from her marriage to Guy Ritchie, and 12 year old Lourdes, from a previous relationship.

Actress-Governor Vilma Santos flew to New York on Sunday for the filming of her comeback movie, “In My Life” under Star Cinema. The actress will be in the States for two weeks.

“Napakasaya ko dahil alam naman nating ito (show business) ang pinagmulan kong mundo, so, I’m very, very excited,” the actress said in an interview.

The actress’ son Luis Manzano and 2008 Box Office King John Lloyd Cruz will be part of the said film where the two will play gay roles.

British newspaper News of the World has reported that “Slumdog Millionaire” star Rubina Ali, 9, who played the role of the young Latika on the film is now up for adoption – for a fee amounting to $300,000.

Rafiq Qureshi, the father of Rubina has allegedly put her daughter on the market for the huge amount of money. Qureshi blamed her daughter’s movie star status for his decision to sell her.

An undercover reporter of News of the World approached Qureshi acting on behalf of a wealthy Arab sheik that wanted to adopt Rubina.

“We are considering Rubina’s future,” said Qureshi.

“Obviously, if you wanted to adopt we could discuss this, but her parents would also expect some proper compensation in return. We are talking of around å£50,000 for this to happen. We can discuss everything about this deal when we meet. There’s a lot of interest in Rubina, she’s become very famous,” Qureshi’s brother-in-law Rojan More said over the phone to the undercover reporter adding that he is also expecting a bid amounting to $300,000.

“The child is special now. This is NOT an ordinary child. This is an Oscar child,” said Qureshi’s brother Mohiuddin.

But, a source told the newspaper that “Rubina’s family is furious that despite the film doing so well and their pretty daughter becoming so famous, they are still living in such rough conditions… Dad Rafiq is streetwise and knows that soon his daughter’s success will be forgotten and her moment of fame will be over. He has a family to feed and simply can’t afford it. He is keen to find a rich family to bring up Rubina but only if they are willing to help the whole family to get out of the slums.”

Save The Children as well as other children’s charities have expressed their concern over the issue, and have also pledged to help Rubina.

“Save the Children pays tribute to the News of the World for highlighting this awful reality. We will do all we can to help Rubina,” said Adrian Lovett, Save The Children representative.

Madonna was hospitalized Saturday after suffering minor injuries while horseback riding at New York’s Hamptons, her spokesperson said. She was brought to the Southampton Hospital but was then released.

The singer was thrown off a horse after photographers startled the animal.

“The accident occurred when the horse Madonna was riding was startled by paparazzi who jumped out of the bushes to photograph the singer who was visiting friends on Eastern Long Island over the weekend,” Liz Rosenberg said.

The 50-year-old singer’s representative added that the singer still has to undergo further medical tests, while doctors will continue to observe her condition.

Philippine Senator Mar Roxas and broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez are to the wedding knot soon.

According to “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon’s” reliable source, the senator announced his upcoming wedding with the broadcaster during the former’s family reunion last Sunday, April 12, 2009. The Aranetas, family of Mar Roxas was happy to learn about the wedding.

On Wednesday morning, the Aranetas with Mar Roxas and Korina Sanchez were at the Libingan ng mga Bayani for a wreath-laying ceremony to commemorate the 61st death anniversary of former President Manuel Roxas, Mar Roxas’ grandfather.

“Kasama siya (Korina Sanchez) sa pamilya namin at lahat naman kami ay taun-taon nagbibigay galang sa death anniversary ng aking lolo. Kapamilya,” Roxas answered when asked by the entertainment press on the reason Korina is with him in a family gathering.

Details about the upcoming wedding are yet to be determined.

Miley Cyrus has insisted that the woman suing her just wants to “harass and embarrass” her. Back in February this year, Lucie J. Kim has failed a lawsuit on behalf of more than one million Asia-Pacific Islanders who call Los Angeles their home, after photos showing Cyrus and a group of male pals appearing to mock Asians by pulling on their eyes were leaked online.

Lucie J. Kim is asking for $1 billion.

The 16-year-old singer-actress’ legal counsel has filed documents asking the judges to sanction Lucie J. Kim’s lawyers for putting up a manifestly frivolous lawsuit that acts as a publicity stunt to publicly embarrass and harass the actress and to get a large and quick class-action settlement.

TMZ.com has reported that the teen superstar’s legal counsel is asking Kim to pay her legal bills amounting to $26,685.

John Morris, the 8-year-old son of Aubrey Miles was born in the United States in 2001. The actress said that it is the right time for the public to know the truth.

Actor Richard Gutierrez went to the Makati City Regional Trial Court with his family Monday afternoon to file a P25-million libel case against the entertainment website, Philippine Entertainment Portal.

The actor resorted to filing a case against the entertainment website after it failed to retract the story about the alleged gun-toting incident involving the actor as well as Michael Flores and Epy Quizon.

“Maraming artista ang nabibiktima ng ganitong klaseng false journalism at nagkataon lang na nangyari ito sa akin. MANILA, Philippines– Inquirer.net, the online version of the Philippine Daily Inquirer has reported that the Manila International Airport Authority, responsible for the operations of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport refuted reports that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were in the Philippines last week.

Daily Mail has reported Sunday morning that Pitt and Jolie arrived in the Philippines last week by a private jet that landed at NAIA. The report, which cited an unnamed source, also said that the movie couple has considered adopting a Filipino baby “after hitting a roadblock with plans to adopt a Burmese baby.”

“Thus far, it’s a negative on any arrival of anyone looking like Brad or Angelina at NAIA. No private jet also,” Tirso Serrano, MIAA deputy general manager for airport development and corporate affairs, told the Philippine Daily Inquirer in a phone interview.

Rumors have been circulating in entertainment websites, forums, and even blogs for the past two weeks that the famous Hollywood couple is/were in the Philippines.

“We have those rumors since last week. We would have known if they arrived. The other possibility is that they used another airport,” Serrano added.

A friend of the “Mean Girl” star, Lindsay Lohan has shared with PEOPLE Magazine that Lohan and Samantha Ronson are still talking despite their break-up last weekend.

“Sam and Lindsay are speaking,” the source tells PEOPLE. “But Sam has begged Lindsay to get help.”

The source also said that the actress is “heartbroken.”

“Lindsay, despite appearances, is insecure and has relied on Samantha and their relationship to build her up,” added the actress’ friend.

“Lindsay barely sleeps, which explains a lot of her behavior. She’s exhausted. She can’t even sit down for a minute without pacing around the room. It’s really sad.”

Since their break-up in Los Angeles, Lohan has kept busy partying.

Lohan said Monday last week that they’re taking a brief break so she can focus with herself.

PEOPLE Magazine also reported that Lohan posted a couple of messages on her private Twitter page that Ronson’s infidelity and drug use are the cause of their break-up. In one of her “tweets” the actress wrote, “You broke my heart. Now go away. I loved you.”

The young diva Charice Pempengco wowed the audience during her performance at Italy’s musical variety show “Ti Lascio Una Canzone,” ABS-CBNNews reported. The show was broadcasted by Rai Uno.

Charice performed a couple of songs including “I Will Always Love You,” “I Have Nothing,” and “Listen.”

The audience gave the 16-year-old singer a standing ovation after singing “The Prayer.”

“Actually I’m very happy because Italy and the Philippines both love music,” Charice said in an interview.

Charice, who began her singing career by joining a singing career said, “My mom taught me how to sing. I just want to say to all the kids to continue pursuing their dreams. That’s what I did. Continue soaring high because we love music.”

The Los Angeles Times has reported that singer Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty to assault charges and criminal threats. The singer appeared in Los Angeles County Superior Court Monday afternoon.

The RNB singer is accused of assaulting his girlfriend and singer Rihanna that happened almost two months ago.

The court has scheduled a preliminary hearing on April 29.

“I believe there are efforts by all of the parties to resolve the case expeditiously and fairly,” said Rihanna’s lawyer, Donald Etra.

The lawyer also said that there are ongoing plea negotiations between the prosecutors and Brown.

Rihanna is currently in her hometown Barbados and is spending time with her family. An L.A. Country spokesman said that Rihanna has asked the authorities to return the jewelry that was taken from her as evidence.

Demi Moore and husband Ashton Kutcher are two of many Hollywood personalities who are regularly posting at the microblogging site, Twitter.

On Friday, Moore, 46 has received a suicide threat on her Twitter timeline from a woman saying, “getting a knife, a big one that is sharp. Going to cut my arm down the whole arm so it doesn’t waste time.” Moore then responded to the said “tweet” with the comment, “Hope you are joking.”

Demi Moore is in Southern France with husband Ashton Kutcher, who is filming a drama entitled “Five Killers.”

Twitter followers were able to track the “tweet” to be from San Jose, California. Authorities had found a 48-year-old woman and was taken into custody for “psychological evaluation.”

Moore, then posted a “tweet” after two hours saying: “Thanks everyone for reaching out to the San Jose PD i am told they are aware and no need to call anymore. I do not know this woman.”

According to a police spokesman, a concerned citizen, neither Kutcher nor Moore informed the police department about the suicide threat in Twitter.

Comedian Jason Gainza has reportedly collapsed while filming for the ABS-CBN TV show “Parekoy,” early Sunday.

Jason Gainza, 29 was then rushed to the St. Luke’s Hospital in Quezon City. After a series of medical tests, it was then discovered that the comedian suffered from gastritis.

ABS-CBN’s Sunday TV show “The Buzz” reported the incident and said that the comedian is now in stable condition.

“Isinugod nga po siya ng madaling araw sa Saint Luke’s hospital. Anytime po ay pwede na siyang i-release dahil ayon sa finding ng doctors ay gastritis ito at ‘yong ECG (electrocardiography) niya ay clear,” Sucaldito said.

“’Parekoy’ is being combined with ‘Banana Split.’ While they were taping last night, Jason Gainza collapsed. Nanigas ang isang parte ng katawan [niya]. Dinala siya sa ospital,” TV host Kris Aquino added.

Winner of Pinoy Dream Academy season two Laarni Lozada has earned her bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education at the Philippine Women’s University, ABS-CBN News reported.

Lozada, a working student since her freshman days, said that she really determined in getting a college degree.

She is looking forward to taking the Licensure Examinations for Teachers (LET). But now, she’ll be focusing on her singing career.

MANILA, Philippines –  (UPDATE 04/03/09; 11:56am) On Tuesday, March 31, 2009, Brink Notes Entertainment Daily has reported that the Philippine Entertainment Portal issued a statement regarding a report published on PEP saying that Richard Gutierrez and Michael Flores had a confrontation at director Mark Reyes’ birthday celebration.

The report also said that the confrontation between Flores and Gutierrez led into a gun-toting incident. Epy Quizon, son of the “Comedy King” Dolpy was also named in the report.

The inadvertent uploading of the said report on the website had caused a rift among PEP, Annabelle Rama and Richard Gutierrez. The report was pulled out of the website immediately after an angry Annabelle Rama called the attention of editor-in-chief Jo-Ann Maglipon.

Maglipon, in behalf of Philippine Entertainment Portal appeared in front of the press Tuesday afternoon to publicly apologize to the involved parties and its readers.

“The fact that the article was uploaded before the interviews could be completed is what I am apologizing for. It was very unfair to Richard Gutierrez, to Epy Quizon and to Michael Flores,” Maglipon said in a statement.

But, Annabelle Rama is determined to file a case against the entertainment news website despite the public apology of its editor-in-chief. Rama, in an interview called Maglipon’s apology to be insufficient and demanded for a direct-to-the-point apology. She also said that her son Richard Gutierrez would file a separate case against the entertainment website.

“Kung itutuloy ni Annabelle Rama ang demanda sa PEP, ibig sabihin wala siyang isang salita. Kasi, ang sabi ko sa kanya, if you want this correction in PEP and I appear before the press that means that hindi ka na magdedemanda, Tita Anabelle. ‘Oo, may isa naman akong salita.’,” Maglipon said in a television interview.

Atty. Sandy Olaso-Coronel, PEP’s legal counsel said that people behind PEP are still hoping that Rama would keep her promise to Maglipon that she won’t file against the site if Maglipon apologizes in public. Coronel said that PEP is ready to defend itself if Rama decided to file a case against PEP.

“Well, habang umaasa ang PEP that Annabelle will keep her promise to Jo-Ann, kung talagang magdedemanda siya, sasagutin natin ang habla. Naka-ready naman ang PEP na depensahan ang sarili nito,” Coronel said in an interview.

“Ang PEP, ang obligasyon ng PEP sa publiko ay mag-deliver ang balita tungkol sa sinumang artista. They were just doing their job nang in-investigate nila ang insidente. Doon sa public apology, inaamin naman ng PEP na nagkaroon ng pagkukulang sa pagsunod sa standard operation nila in uploading an article. Hindi yun nasunod, aminado ang PEP. Pero, hindi mo maiaalis na may istorya na dapat isulat,” Coronel added.

Richard Gutierrez has reacted on the issue Thursday evening.

“Walang katotohanan ‘yong nakasulat doon. Walang gulong nangyari. Lahat po ‘yon kasinungalingan at lahat po ‘yon naimbento lamang. Bilib nga ako sa  gumawa noon dahil ang ganda ng imagination niya, eh. Pero kung ano man ang nakasulat doon, I’m sure kung ano man ang totoo, lalabas. Unang-una po, gusto kong klaruhin na nagkaroon po kami ng agreement ng PEP na binigyan po naming sila ng chance na sabihin kung ano ‘yong totoo. Si Jo-Ann Maglipon po ay nag-apologize siya for the wrong reasons. She apologized na hindi niya nakuha ‘yong side namin. Hindi niya sinabi na nagkamali sila at imbento ‘yong mga nakasulat doon sa PEP at fabricated stories at false journalism ‘yong nangyari,” said Richard Gutierrez in a TV interview.

GMA Network Senior Vice-president for Entertainment Wilma Galvante has filed a P7-million damage suit against talent manager Annabelle Rama Tuesday, March 17 at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court.

The 40-page compliant filed by Galvante stated how Rama threatened her through text messages and media interviews.

Galvante has asked the court to issue a restraining order that would prohibit Rama from being near (within 50 meters) the former. The compliant also included how Rama gave malicious and derogatory statements against Galvante.

The rift between Rama and Galvante started when the latter spoke with Rama’s talent, JC de Vera in Galvante’s office last February 16. Rama then accused Galvante of harassing her talent.

Galvante cited the Civil Code of the Philipines in her complaint, which stated that every person should respect the dignity, personality, privacy, and peace of mind of his neighbors and other persons.

Galvante has asked for P 5 million worth of moral damages, P 1.5 million for exemplary damages and P 500, 000 for legal fees.

Rama said that she’s ready to face Galvante in court. On April 2, Rama would appear at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 95 to respond to Galvante’s compliant.

TV Host Boy Abunda will finally get his bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts from the Philippine Women’s University this April 4. He is currently working on his master’s degree on International Relation on Public Diplomacy in the same university. The host proudly announced this on his Sunday TV show, The Buzz.

Unfortunately, the TV host-talent manager will not be able to attend the commencement exercises on Saturday because of his out-of-town commitment.

Abunda was able to finish his Communication Arts degree through the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) of the Commission on Higher Edition (ChEd). In the said program, work experience of an individual would be carefully evaluated and checked whether they can be converted into academic units or not. Abunda’s previously acquired academic units at Ateneo under the Business Management major, which he failed to finish, were also credited.

“So, last year, I went into that program. So, nag-submit ako. Lahat, lahat ginawa ko. Ang hirap. I went through all the requirements of the ETEEAP program, and then I took some subjects to complete the undergrad, kasi kumukuha na ako ng Masteral. Bawal nga ‘yan, e. Pinagsabay ko ‘yon. Kaya it was really tough.

“Kahapon [Saturday], I took my validating exams for ComArts. I submitted my thesis. I did my thesis for the undergrad. Tinapos ko lahat ‘yan kahapon. Nagpalitrato ako ng may toga. At the same time, doon naman sa aking International Relation on Public Diplomacy, natapos ko yung aking second term kahapon din. ‘Yan yung Masteral. Natapos ko yung second term. Natapos ko ‘yung thesis nung International Relation and Pubic Diplomacy, lahat,” the TV host said in an interview with the Philippine Entertainment Portal.

Cory Aquino a known personality in the Philippines would also be graduating on April 4 at the Philippine Women’s University.

The TV host is thinking of getting a master’s degree in Communication Arts at Ateneo.

“I can continue with my masteral on International Relation on Public Diplomacy or ang balak ko makipag-usap sa Ateneo if I can take my masteral studies on Communication Arts, ganun. Gusto ko mag-aral lang. Gusto ko talaga,” he said.

The TV host plans to teach in a university after getting his Master’s degree. He will be back in school this June to finish his master’s.

During his contract signing with ABS-CBN film outfit, Star Cinema, actor Rayver Cruz has hinted that he would be doing another film with singer-actress Sarah Geronimo.

Sarah Geronimo and Rayver Cruz were first paired onscreen on the Star Cinema film “You Changed My Life.”

In her interview late last year, Sarah Geronimo admitted that she has a crush on Rayver Cruz. On the other hand, the actor said that he and the “Pop Star Princess” are now getting closer.

But, the actor clarified that he’s not rushing things between him and the singer.

“Sa lahat ng mga bagay if you rush things hindi naman maganda,” Cruz said in an interview.

The World singing sensation Charice Pempengco has been in the United States for the past few weeks for the filming of her first-ever Hollywood movie. Charice has been “casted” on the second installment of “Alvin and the Chimpmunks,” which is entitled “The Squeakquel” being produced by 20th Century Fox.

Some scenes were shot at the Woodrow Wilson Classical High School in Long Beach, California. Charice is with her mother, Racquel and another companion.

The film is set to be released in the US some time in December this year and in the Philippines some time in January 2010.

Charice would be playing as herself in the said movie.

“It’s a dream come true for me,” Charice said in a phone interview.

“My mom is a big fan of the Chipmunks and that’s how I got to know the group,” she continued.

“It’s not a big role, but the fact that it’s a Hollywood movie is already a big deal for me.”

Alicia Keys’ “No One” is one the songs she performed in the said movie.

Batangas Governor-actress Vilma Santos is expected to fly to New York this April 9, 2009 for a vacation. She then would film her upcoming movie with Star Cinema. 2008 Box Office King John Lloyd Cruz and son Luis “Lucky” Manzano would join her in the said movie.

“Kasama ko ang family ko for a vacation tapos tuloy-tuloy na kami sa shooting namin doon,” shared the actress in an interview with ABS-CBN.com.

“A Mother’s Story” is the working title of the said film. Edu Manzano was offered a cameo role on the said film but turned down the offer because of other commitments. The actor said, “Minsan din kasi, napag-uusapan din ‘yun, na sayang kung cameo role lang, but hopefully, may dumating na isang magandang istorya na babagay sa aming tatlo ni Vi at Luis, why not?” Vilma Santos understands Edu Manzano’s point.

Vilma Santos also shared that actress Angel Locsin, Luis’ girlfriend might join them in New York. Vilma said, “Ang pagkaka-alam ko, gusto nilang mag-celebrate ng birthday ng sabay. Parehong April ang birthdays nila, eh. April 21 ang kay Luis, 23 naman ‘yung kay Angel.”

This would be Vilma Santos’ comeback movie.

Gina Pareño received a Best Supporting Actress award at the 3rd Asian Film Awards for the movie “Serbis” directed by Dante Mendoza. The awarding was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center last Monday, March 23, 2009.

The actress almost didn’t make it to the awarding ceremonies as she has only one free day. The multi-awarded actress is currently busy filming for the ABS-CBN television series “Tayong Dalawa.”

In her acceptance speech, Gina Pareño shared her trophy with co-star Jaclyn Jose who was nominated as well.

The actress has returned to Manila Wednesday.

“Nagpapasalamat ako, talagang sinusuwerte tayo gawa ng… Hindi ninyo alam kung gaano ako natuwa at nakakataba ng puso kasi for the first time po, may nanalong Filipino sa Asian Film Awards sa Hong Kong; at nagkataon ho na tayo ang nakakuha,” the actress said in an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal.

GMA-7 talent Angelika dela Cruz gave birth to a baby boy through caesarian section  last Friday, March 20, 2009 at around 10:00 am, the Philippine Entertainment Portal reported. She and husband Orion Casareo decided to name their first child Gabriel “Gabby.”

When asked how it feels to be a first-time mom, Angelika said, “Naku, ang sarap! Ang sarap-sarap pala! Sobra!”

“He [Gabby] is a big baby. Kagagaling ko lang sa nursery kanina. Pinuntahan namin siya ni Orion, binuhat namin siya. Ang cute! Ang cute-cute! Ang puti-puti,” Angelika added.

The couple hasn’t decided on a specific date for their son’s baptism.

“Yes, yung binyag kasi paplanuhin pa namin. Pero siguro mga three to four months from now. Tapos yung church wedding kasi namin, inaayos pa namin, so December 4,” Angelika said.

The actress is set to do two television series with GMA-7.

Bayani Agbayani has finally spoken about the video of him arguing with a couple of people in a parking lot. The video was first seen on the video-sharing site, Youtube.

In a phone interview with DWIZ, Agbayani narrated what transpired on the parking lot.

“Kasi ang nangyari diyan, kasi yung parking lot sa The Fort, is naka-hang siya pababa. So, nung pagsakay ko sa kotse ko, ‘kala ko naman ‘pag automatic, ‘pag nasa ‘D’ [drive] ka Hindi aatras. Nasa drive ka na [kahit] hindi mo tinapakan yung gasoline, di aatras. So, umatras. May sasakyan sa likod ko, nakaparada din.

“So, may apat na lalake na lumapit sa akin. Ang sabi ko naman, ise-settle ko kasi kasalanan ko naman and besides, aksidente talaga, e. Wala tayong magagawa, e. So nung sinabi sa akin na six thousand [pesos] lahat-lahat nung babayaran… Anyway, hindi ko na tiningnan yung damage, e. Isipin mo na lang, atras na six thousand ang babayaran mo. Para makaalis na rin, kasalanan ko naman, e. Ako ang umatras, e,” the comedian said.

Agbayani also clarified that he already apologized to the person concerned. When the comedian is about to go back to his car, the other party started cursing him.

“Nung parang nag-uusap na sila, parang masyadong mahinahon na ang boses nila, yun pala kinukunan na ako ng camera. Siyempre, gusto ko lang ma-settle na. Gusto ko siyang lapitan, kasi bakit niya ako ginagano’n, e, wala naman akong sinasabi sa kanyang masama. Kaya nakapagmura na rin ako,” he added.

He then clarified that the video uploaded on the video-sharing site was edited. According to Bayani, “Hindi do’n ipinakita kung bakit ako nagalit, e. Ipinakita yung nagagalit na ako. In-edit nila. Talagang may masama silang motibo, kasi yung sigaw pa lang niyang ‘P***na, sa Crame tayo!’ Ba’t tayo pupunta ng Crame, e, inaayos ko na nga?”

In a statement read by Kris Aquino on SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon the comedian said: “Nagsorry ako doon sa naatrasan. Binayaran ko agad ‘yong damage. Pero wag naman sanang ‘yong kasama noon [who was not riding the car] na mag-mumura sa akin at ilalagay pa sa YouTube ‘yong retaliation ko at hindi ‘yong simula ng pagmumura nila. Inaamin ko, na-provoke ako kasi lalaki ako. Kung lalaki ka, minura ka tapos apat sila na pagtutulungan ka, nag-iisa ka, minura ka, ipagtatanggol mo ang sarili mo at magagalit ka.”

World Boxing Champion Manny Pacquiao announced Wednesday night on ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol about his new partnership with ABS-CBN granting the latter rights to air Pacquiao’s upcoming fights.

“Nilapitan ko po ang ABS-CBN at nagpasiyang gusto ko sila ulit maging partner.

“Asahan n’yo po na patuloy akong magbibigay ng karangalan sa ating bayan,” announced Pacquiao.

On other hand, ABS-CBN issued a statement through its head of corporate communications Bong Osorio that reads: “We are very happy with the decision of Manny Pacquiao to be his partner in future fights including the Hatton fight on May 2.”

It would be noted that Solar Sports through GMA-7 aired the previous fights of the boxing champion. In a published report by the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Solar Sports remained firm in saying that they still have legal rights to air Pacquiao’s fight. In the same report, Enrique dela Cruz Jr., Solar Sports counsel said that they did receive a letter from Pacquiao terminating the deal. But, Pacquiao’s contract with Solar Sports is valid until 2012.

Manny Pacquiao currently appears in two GMA-7 shows – “Totoy Bato” and “Pinoy Records.”

MANILA, Philippines – President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has posthumously conferred today, March 18, 2009 the Presidential Merit of Medal on Francis Magalona who died last March 6, 2009 because of leukemia.

A simple ceremony was held at the Malacañang’s Reception Hall this morning and was attended by Magalona’s widow, Pia, his eight children and colleagues Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, TAPE, Inc. Executive Tony Tuviera, and Malou Choa-Fagar.

The award was given to recognize the Master Rapper’s contribution to the music industry as well as his efforts to promote nationalism through his music and songs. The President said that there are plans on giving a tribute to the late Master Rapper’s during the Philippine Independence Day celebrations.

A video presentation in honor of the late Francis Magalona was also shown after.

In an interview with “Eat Bulaga!” Pia Magalona said that she and the family are very proud of the honor given to his husband.

“Deserving naman si Kiko. At, sa mga nagawa niya at sa mga iiwanan niyang legacy, e, dapat lang gawaran ng Presidential Medal of Merit,” said “Eat Bulaga!” co-host Vic Sotto.

On the other hand, Francis M’s daughter Maxene expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the President for the award given to his late father.

“Alam naman niya kung anong nangyayari ngayon, pinaparangalan siya ng President of the Philippines. And, I’m sure sobra siyang natutuwa as he is looking down on us,” Maxene Magalona said in an interview.

Francis Magalona was diagnosed with leukemia August of last year and eventually succumbed to it last March 6, 2009.

Pia Magalona, wife of the late Francis Magalona was hurt to find out that some people are exploiting his husband’s death by organizing tribute events, which she did not approve. Through the social networking site Facebook, two daughters of the late “Master Rapper,” found about the “illegal” tribute events for their father to be held in Ontario, Canada and Dubai.

Pia immediately called the attention of the event organizers by sending a messaging through the social networking site informing that she did not approve any of those two tribute events.

“Nagpost kaagad ako ng message doon sa dalawang concerned na ‘yon na sinabi ko na wala akong nalalaman na mga events na binigyan ko ng blessing ko na pwede silang magtipon-tipon at maggawa ng show na magpapa-ticket and all. I want to tell the public any, and all tribute shows or benefit shows nakini-claim para kay Francis M and for Philippine National Red Cross wala ‘yang blessings naming. Bigyan man lang nila ng decency na mag-ask ng permission ko,” said the wife of Francis Magalona in an interview with “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon” clarifying that there’s no such thing as “Francis M Foundation” the supposed beneficiary of the tribute shows.

Pia added that in any case that there would be a tribute show for Francis M, the announcement should come from them.

Binibining Pilipinas 1982 Maria Isabel Lopez felt violated when she did not receive any invitation and complimentary ticket for the 2009 coronation night.

“Normally, in the past four years, I’ve been coming to Bb. Pilipinas lagi akong may complimentary tickets. It was only this year 2009 pageant nasingle out ako na hindi ako nabigyan ng invitation, hindi ako nabigyan ng ticket,” she said in an interview with SNN Reporter Cesca Litton.

Since she didn’t receive any ticket, fellow beauty queens gave her a ticket instead. When already seated at the section allotted for past Bb. Pilipinas winners, an usher approached her looking for her ticket. She was asked to transfer seats after. The 1982 Bb. Pilipinas titleholder also said that Myrna Borromeo, adviser of Stella Marquez de Araneta dissed her.

“Stella Marquez-Araneta and the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc., you can stop me from attending Bb. Pilipinas pageant at the Big Dome. But, you cannot stop the fact that I was your Bb. Pilipinas Universe 1982,” Lopez said while showing her Binibining Pilipinas sash and trophy.

Meanwhile, Sandra Seifert was disqualified from the 2009 Binibining Pilipinas pageant for posing on a men’s magazine. She was only disqualified three days before the coronation night.

Bb. Pilipinas World 2007 Maggie Wilson was among the past winners of Bb. Pilipinas who were not invited for the 2009 Binibining Pilipinas pageant.

“Matagal ko nang naririnig na parang there’s an issue daw na I am banned from Araneta and there are other beauty queens as well who are banned from Araneta,” Wilson said.

On the other hand, 2005 Binibining Pilipinas-International and Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman felt bad after knowing that she was not acknowledged as one of the international titleholders in one of the tribute video shown on the 2009 coronation night. She also didn’t receive any invitation for the 2009 coronation night.

“I didn’t know na wala palang tribute for me. Mayroong tribute for the other international winners and kinukwento nga ng mga friends ko na nanonood na wala daw for me. And I was like, bakit wala? Siguro nakalimutan. Pero, syempre may kaunting tampo. Kasi diba, pinaghirapan ko ‘yon. It would have been nice na medyo marecognize ka for that,” Quigaman said.

With the controversies that the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. is currently facing, the management is yet to issue a statement.

Vicki Belo denies published reports (not in Brink Notes Entertainment Daily) that she and Hayden Kho, Jr. are back together. Several published reports said that the two reunited during Vicki Belo’s recent trip to the US.

“Hayden and I are friends, that’s all,” she clarified.

Meanwhile, Vicki Belo almost died because of a car accident in the US last March 1, 2009.

“We were on the freeway in Los Angeles at 405 Freeway, and we were going at about 100km/h and the car in front us suddenly stops so we bumped. Luckily, it’s a blessing… for some reason that day I had my seat belt [on] otherwise, lilipad talaga ako sa glass,” she recalled.

On the other hand, Vicki Belo has spoken about the case filed by Layla Palaganas against her and the Belo Medical Group. Layla Palaganas is asking for P20 million in moral damages from the Belo Medical Group because of the failed “Thermage” treatment done on her.

“We believe that Dr. Belo and Dr. Sison are totally innocent. So we do not see na tatagal ito [the case],” Atty. Adel Tamano said, Belo’s new lawyer.

After a very long time, actor Gabby Concepcion has finally seen and talked with his former wife, Megastar Sharon Cuneta face-to-face. The actor visited the set of Sharon while  hewas  filming for the ABS-CBN summer station ID, ABS-CBN.com reported. The actor is very much happy with the turn of events now that he and Sharon are on speaking terms.

“Overall, it was a really really great feeling to see her again. Nag-usap kami ulit after all the storm has passed,” the actor added.

The actor is also looking forward to working with Sharon again. Will there be a Sharon-Gabby reunion movie anytime soon?

The two have been communicating with each other occasionally through their daughter KC Concepcion. Gabby Concepcion first reached out to Sharon through a video greeting shown on the latter’s birthday concert last January. In return, Sharon extended his condolences to Gabby on the death of his father months ago.

"Only You" stars Sam Milby, Angel Locsin and Diether Ocampo

For the first time, Angel Locsin, Diether Ocampo and Sam Milby will work together in ABS-CBN’s upcoming remake of the Korean TV series “Only You” originally broadcasted by SBS. The cast had its photo shoot last February 17, 2009.

In an interview with ABS-CBN’s “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon,” Sam Milby said that she won’t court co-star Angel Locsin. Sam Milby has been very vocal ever since his Pinoy Big Brother days about his big crush on Angel Locsin.

“Bago ako pumasok sa PBB house siya ang ultimate crush ko dati. Wala lang, natutuwa ako na makakasama ko na siya sa soap na ‘to.

“Kung alam ko na mayroon siyang boyfriend, wala akong gagawin o wala akong ganyan. May respeto talaga ako,” added Sam.

The cast of “Only You” is scheduled to fly to South Korea late this month to film major scenes for the series. Rory Quintos would direct the series.

International singer and Kapamilya, Billy Crawford admitted his past relationship with his French choreographer, Maryss from Paris on ABS-CBN’s Sunday afternoon program, “The Buzz” last March 15. The singer is currently in a relationship with ASAP ‘09 co-star, Nikki Gil.

In the interview, Billy clarified that he’s not married to her French choreographer. Rumors have been circulating about Billy being married to Maryss.

“Gusto ko lang i-clear that, yes, we had a relationship. Magkasama kami dati. Nag-live in kami, and inaamin ko, we were together. Noong first na dumating ako rito sa Pilipinas, we were off and on that time. We kinda [sic] went our own separate ways. Gusto ko lang i-clear sa lahat na hindi ako kasal at wala akong asawa,” he added.

Billy Crawford has just signed a one-year contract with ABS-CBN. Aside from ASAP ’09, the singer would also be seen on ABS-CBN’s upcoming television shows like Kokey, a sitcom with Kanto Boys and brand-new season of Pinoy Dream Academy.

Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron, stars of Disney’s hit musical film, High School Musical posed as Princess Aurora and Prince Philip for a new ad campaign promoting California’s Disneyland and DisneyWorld in Florida.

The real-life couple played as Sleeping Beauty characters for a snap shot by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz. In the picture, they reenacted the famous scene in Disney’s Sleeping Beauty where Efron wakes a reclining Hudgens from a long sleep with a kiss.

The High School Musical lead stars were joined by other Hollywood stars Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, Whoopi Goldberg, Beyonce, David Beckham and Gisele Bundchen, among others, who have all portrayed beloved Disney characters in Leibovitz campaign photos.

The “Sleeping Beauty” photo is part of Disney Parks’ “What Will You Celebrate?” campaign. The photo will also appear in Disney’s new entertainment and lifestyle magazine, “Disney Twenty-Three” launched March 10.

BB Gandanghari was greeted by questions from bloggers who attended the POC Presents: BB Gandanghari meet and greet event at Mag: Net Café Bonifacio High Street Saturday afternoon, March 14, 2009.

A blogger asked BB about “going under the knife,” i.e., sexual reassignment. BB then said that she’s comfortable with herself and her body.

“Katawan ko kasi ‘yong parang nagpapalakas ng loob ko. When I started to discover the lady in me, things change. Hindi ganito ang itsura ko before, honestly. … Nagbago ang physical structure ko. Ang waistline ko after 3 months suddenly become 25 [from 31]. I don’t know how, but it’s really power of the mind. Naniniwala ako na our body respond [sic] on how me think. … I am a woman regardless of what I see in my physical image,” BB Gandanghari said.

She said that she’s happy and doesn’t want to tamper with her physical being. When asked the follow up question whether she has a lovelife or none, BB just laughed in response.

“Wala pa [pero] looking forward. … I hope one day may dumating,” she added.

Bloggers were curious whether BB would still play male roles in the future. BB then clarified that she’s still open to the possibilities of playing male roles given that these roles are good. BB added that she loves playing roles and playing male roles will test her versatility as an actress.

On the other hand, BB was asked for her reactions on those negative reactions that people are saying about her.

“Much that I want to pay attention to it, I can’t. Because parang I would be very unfair doon sa mga taong who really supports me. … I’ve been to a lot of places and wala naman akong nakita kung ‘di love. I’ve been getting a lot of love alam mo ‘yon, and acceptance” BB said.

Since BB returned to the country, she has been active in the cyberspace communicating with fans and supporters through Friendster, Facebook, Twitter and Plurk.

Singer and actress Mandy Moore tied the knot Tuesday afternoon. Singer and songwriter Ryan Adams and Mandy Moore were married at Whitefield Chapel at Bethesda Home for Boys in Savannah, Ga. The ceremony officiated by Pastor Steve Schulte lasted for eight minutes.

Moore, Adams and the pastor went inside the chapel while their friend Chad Baker stayed outside. The couple got engaged last month. Moore is now 24 years old while his husband, Ryan Adams is 34 years old.

“It was so romantic. It was awesome,” says Baker. “I just can’t stress how happy they seemed.”

Mandy Moore is known for the movie “A Walk to Remember” and songs like “Cry,” “Only Hope,” and “Someday We’ll Know” while Ryan Adams is known for album like “Heartbreaker” and “Easy Tiger.”

Ashley Jensen as Christina McKinney

The actress behind the character, Christina McKinney is reported to leave Ugly Betty next season. Ashley Jensen would joining “Accidentally on Purpose,” a CBS show.

Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly has confirmed the said news. Jensen’s Betty departure is completely mutual said an ABC insider. Jensen is the only cast member of Ugly Betty that did not move to New York when the filming of the show relocated.

Silvio Horta, Ugly Betty’s Executive Producer is saddened by the fact that Ashley will not return next season. He then added that Ashley is still part of the Ugly Betty family so viewers shouldn’t be surprised if Christina (Jensen’s character in Ugly Betty) would pop back in Betty’s life once in a while.

Ugly Betty’s new episode entitled, “A Mother of a Problem” is to air Thursday, March 12, 2009 on ABC.

After leaving GMA Network in 2004, Geoff Eigenmann as GMA’s exclusive talent. Eigenmann together with his manager Perry Lansigan and his mother Gina Alajar signed a contract with GMA Network in the presence of the network’s executives Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, Jimmy Duavit, and Wilma Galvante.

“S.R.O. Cinemaserye” would the actor’s first project with the network.

The 24-year-old actor clarified that he informed ABS-CBN officials about his transfer to its rival network, GMA. His contract with ABS-CBN expired in 2006.

“Okay naman, no burned bridges, if I may say. It went well naman, nagpaalam kami. It went smoothly and we didn’t go na umalis na lang kaming bigla. We did everything step by step at kinausap namin lahat ng dapat na makausap,” he added.

Geoff Eigenmann is currently filming a movie under Star Cinema entitled, “Estrella” with Maja Salvador, Shaina Magdayao and Jake Cuenca. Despite his transfer to GMA, he will finish filming the movie that is being directed by Rico Ilarde.

“I’m not gonna say anything bad with ABS, they took care of me. Marami akong natutunan with them. I guess, it was just time to move on and mature, for me as a person and meet other people,” the actor clarified.

American actress, Dakota Fanning has landed a role on the second installment of the Twilight saga, “New Moon” Summit Entertainment confirmed on Saturday, March 7, 2009.

The 15-year-old actress is set to start filming later this month in Vancouver, Canada. Dakota would play the role of Jane – a sinister vampire with an angelic exterior who works for the Volturi. The film is set to be released in theaters come November.

The teen star of “Push” and “Coraline” is excited to be finally working with Robert Pattinson who she finds “very, very cute.”

“The part that I play gets to interact with a lot of the characters, so that would be cool.

“[The Volturi] are kind of mean. I think it would be definitely a different part than I’ve ever played — and I’d get to be a little evil for once,” Dakota said.

“New Moon” co-star, Nikki Reed who plays Rosalie Hale in film has nothing but praises for director, Chris Weitz. “(Director) Chris Weitz is amazing and I think it’s going to be wonderful,” she said.

(UPDATE) Close friends, colleagues and relatives of the late Francis Magalona gather late tonight for the latter’s necrological rites at the Christ the King Church in Greenmeadows, Quezon City that started at around 10:00pm. A mass was celebrated at 9:00pm where Regine Velasquez and Gary Velasquez sang.

Fans and supporters who weren’t able to get inside the Christ the King Church, camped outside while watching the necrological services through the big LCD screen situated just outside the church.

Remains of the TV host-rapper are expected to be brought at La Funeraria Paz in Quezon City for cremation at midnight. While at 9:00am of Wednesday, March 11, 2009, the remains will be brought back to the Christ the King Church in Greenmeadows for a final mass and blessing.

The ashes of the host-rapper would then be finally laid to rest at the Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City.

Ai-ai delas Alas

(UPDATE) Ai-ai delas Alas, host of ABS-CBN’s morning show, “Ruffa and Ai” was hospitalized after complaining of stomach pains. She is currently confined at the FEU-NRMF Hospital in Quezon City.

“May lagnat ako and ‘yong dati kong sakit sa tiyan and stress,” the actress-comedienne said.

The actress-host also said that she currently being monitored by her doctors. She also shared that she’s in a low-fat diet as per her doctor’s orders. Dr. Lerie V. Cham of FEU-NRMF Hospital said that acute pyelonephrinitis and acute gastritis are the possible cause of the stomach pains the actress-host is experiencing.

“Hindi masyadong pwedeng (kumain). Pero ‘yong fruits, pwede, huwag lang masyadong acidic,” she said. The actress-tv host suspected that the raw food she had eaten during her stay in Japan might have triggered her stomachaches.

Charlene Gonzales is currently taking care of Ai-ai’s hosting chores in “Ruffa and Ai” while the latter is still recovering.

Reports said that Ai-ai delas Alas might return to work this Monday, March 16, 2009.

Francis Magalona

Malacañang said on Monday that the late “Master Rapper” Francis Magalona would be given the posthumous presidential medal of merit for promoting love of country through his songs. Dangerous Drugs Board Chairman Vicente “Tito” Sotto III will award the said medal to the 44-year-old rapper who died noon of March 6, 2009 because of leukemia.

Press Secretary Cerge Remonde noted that Magalona’s famous songs keep the nationalistic attitude among the youth of today. “Mga Kababayan,” “Man From Manila,” “Ito Ang Gusto Ko,” “Three Stars and a Sun,” and “Kaleidoscope World” are some of the famous songs of the late rapper. Remonde also told ABS-CBN News that the medal recognizes the nationalism and love of country that is present in all his performances.

Meanwhile, friends, relatives, fans and supporters continue to pour in at the Christ the King Church in Greenmeadows, Quezon City to have a glimpse of Magalona’s remains, show their deepest condolences to the family and pay their last respects.

Magalona’s remains would be cremated at the Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City on Wednesday, March 11, 2009.

Donald Etra, Rihanna’s attorney said that the singer would testify against her lover, Chris Brown if called as a witness on Brown’s assault case. The attorney representing the singer said on Friday that Rihanna would be required by law to testify if persecutors subpoena her.

The court had granted Rihanna the approval to record any phone conversations with Chris Brown in the future. A criminal protective order has been filed in Los Angeles Superior Court that covers any communication over the next three years, which is valid up to March 5, 2012. Rihanna preferred not to have a complete “no contact” order but Brown has been ordered not to “harass, strike, threaten, assault (sexually or otherwise), follow, stalk, molest, destroy or damage personal or real property…or block [Rihanna's] movements.”

Etra said that Rihanna wants the case to over quickly so she can get along with her life and career. Brown on the other hand is “sorry and saddened” on what had happened between him and Rihanna.

On GMA Network’s 24 Oras Pia Arroyo, wife of the late rapper and TV host Francis Magalona announced to the public the schedule of her late husband’s wake. The remains of the rapper / TV host will be open for public viewing starting tomorrow, March 7, 2009 until Tuesday, March 10 from 6am to 6pm at the Christ the King Church in Greenmeadows, Quezon City.

Instead of sending in flowers and Mass cards, Pia requested that fans and supporters send in cash and blood donations to the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC). It is the PNRC that helped the King of Pinoy Rap in his treatment.

Pia assured the public that she is doing fine and will avoid on-cam interviews from now. She and her mother is busy doing the necessary preparations right now for the late Francis Magalona’s wake tomorrow morning.

The rapper and TV host died noon of March 6, 2009 after months of battling with leukemia at The Medical City, Mandaluyong City.

MANILA, Philippines – The local entertainment industry is mourning on the death of the rapper and TV host, Francis Magalona. The “King of Pinoy Rap” passed away at around noon of March 6, 2009 at The Medical City Hospital after months of battling with leukemia. He was 44.

It is in GMA Network’s noontime TV show that host Vic Sotto confirmed the death of the rapper / TV host. The show together with the hosts, staff and the audience offered few moments of silence in remembrance of Francis Magalona who is one of the show’s hosts.

It was in August 2008 that Francis Magalona was diagnosed with leukemia and has been in and out of the hospital for his treatment. Reports said that the rapper / TV host is about to undergo a procedure called “Stem Cell Transplant” this March. During his past interviews, the rapper requested for privacy and said that he doesn’t want a “media circus”.

FrancisM, as his fans and supporters call him is also a songwriter, record producer, actor and a photographer. He is married to Pia Arroyo and have eight children named Unna, Nicolo, Francis Jr., Elmo, Arkin, and actresses Maxene and Saab.

Fans and supporters of the late rapper / TV host can have a last glimpse of his remains at the Christ the King Chuch in Green Meadows, Quezon City.
