‘Slumdog Millionaire’ opens in Philippine theaters this April1 comment

There has been much talk about the film “Slumdog Millionaire” which won eight Academy Awards this year including Best Picture and Best Director with Dev Patel and Freida Pinto on the lead roles. The film is an adaptation of the novel “Q & A” by Vikas Swarup. Danny Boyle directs the said film. The film was originally released in the US on November of 2008.

As Viva International Pictures releases “Slumdog Millionaire” in local theaters this April 11, local moviegoers have a chance to see the story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees (approximately Php 19 million) on India’s ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” Arrested on suspicion of cheating, he tells the police the incredible story of his life on the streets, and of the girl he loved and lost.

Aside from winning eight Academy Awards, Slumdog Millionaire has also won five Critics’ Choice Awards, four Golden Globes, and seven BAFTA Awards, including Best Film. Find out what does it take to find a lost love as “Slumdog Millionaire” comes to local theaters this April 11, 2009.
