ABS-CBN’s newest primetime offering, “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo,” a new tale that will defy the laws of loves will finally air on January 18, 2010.
From the makers of “Tayong Dalawa” and “Iisa Pa Lamang,” “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo” sketches a different kind of attack to the usual Pinoy teleseryes as it presents an unpredictable plot, a high-caliber cast and three renowned TV directors.
After the unforgettable characters of JR, Dave, Audrey, Ramon in “Tayong Dalawa,” a formidable casting coup gives life to characters that will again etch indelible marks in the history of Philippine television: Gabby Concepcion as Steve, Kris Aquino as Celine, Albert Martinez as Frank, Jacklyn Jose as Astrud, Gina Pareño as Petulah, Maricar Reyes as Selina, Gloria Romero as Barbara, Maxene Eigenmann as Alicia, Kim Chiu as Gwen, Gerald Anderson as Robbie, and Coco Martin as Ringgo.
Under the direction of three versatile directors, Erick Salud, Trina Dayrit and Dondon Santos, “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo” is shaped by three soap opera genres namely; action, family drama, and love story, drawing a yarn on how an individual’s love for another is put to the test and how destiny can entirely re-arrange one’s life.
“When ‘Tayong Dalawa’ became a hit, we were challenged to do something na pwedeng pumantay sa naabot ng ‘Tayong Dalawa’,” Direk Trina shared. Direk Dondon added, “We were very excited to do the project. Knowing na orginal ang materyal, challenge sa aming mga direktor na makapagset ng high standards.”
Direk Erick, on the other hand, mentioned that aside from the mounting pressure brought by the past series of ABS-CBN which have been nationwide hits, it is the audience’s anticipation that also pushes them to make this project worth the wait. “Siyempre hindi lang yung pressure ang nagtutulak sa amin na pagandahin ang serye. It is the viewing public… yung paghihintay nila sa isa na namang bigating soap opera mula sa ABS-CBN ang nagpapainspire rin sa amin.”
Witness the clashing of the best and primed actors in the country in one of the grandest teleseryes this year, Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo, premiering on January 18. For more updates visit http://kungtayomagkakalayo.multiply.com and www.abs-cbn.com.
“BFF: Best Friends Forever” is Star Cinema’s latest movie offering starring the Comedy Box Office Queen Ai-ai de las Alas and Megastar Sharon Cuneta. This would be the first time that the two would be seen in the big screen. The comedy film is due for release in Philippine theaters on May 13.
In an interview, Ai-ai de las Alas shared that she considers the Megastar, as her “BFF (best friends forever)” while Kris Aquino as her “friendship.”
“Kasi hindi ako inaaway ni Senator (Kiko Pangilinan, Sharon’s husband). Charing lang! Si Kris kasi matagal ko na siyang friend since ‘yun nga, ayaw naman sa akin ni James Yap, so dun na ako sa may gusto sa akin.”
James Yap, Kris Aquino’s husband accused de las Alas before of snooping with the couple’s (James and Kris) past affairs.
Although Aquino and de las Alas have already made up, the latter said that her friendship with Sharon Cuneta started way back 2003.
“Siyempre bati na kami ni Friendship (Kris). Pero kasi noon pa kami close ni Mega hindi lang kasi nabigyan ng pagkakataon na ma-telebisyon ‘yung friendship namin. ‘Yung sa amin ni Friendship on national television, nagtatawagan kami ng Friendship,” the comedienne clarified.
The cast of Star Cinema’s Mother’s Day offering also includes John Estrada, Gina Pareño, Chokoleit, Empress Schuck, Enchong Dee and AJ Perez. But there are rumors that Sharon Cuneta’s former husband, Gabby Concepcion will make a cameo appearance on the movie.
“Hindi ko pa alam. Natanong ko na ‘yan . Ang tanong ko na lang ‘Saan isisingit si Gabby?’ Pero if ever ready naman ako, of course. Sino naman ang tatanggi kay Gabby? Hindi ko lang alam saan sa istorya siya ilalagay kasi natapos ko na ‘yung ending. Halos tapos na ‘yung buong pelikula. Ang hindi na lang nakukunan ‘yung mga sundot-sundot na eksena. Hindi pa naman impossible, aaralin ko lang kung paano,” Director Wenn Deramas said.
Star Cinema’s “BFF: Best Friends Forever” is opening in Philippine theaters this May 13.
Gina Pareño received a Best Supporting Actress award at the 3rd Asian Film Awards for the movie “Serbis” directed by Dante Mendoza. The awarding was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center last Monday, March 23, 2009.

In her acceptance speech, Gina Pareño shared her trophy with co-star Jaclyn Jose who was nominated as well.
The actress has returned to Manila Wednesday.
“Nagpapasalamat ako, talagang sinusuwerte tayo gawa ng… Hindi ninyo alam kung gaano ako natuwa at nakakataba ng puso kasi for the first time po, may nanalong Filipino sa Asian Film Awards sa Hong Kong; at nagkataon ho na tayo ang nakakuha,” the actress said in an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal.
