Sharon Cuneta is Ai-Ai de las Alas’ ‘BFF’

Sharon Cuneta is Ai-Ai de las Alas’ ‘BFF’

Posted on 29 Apr 2009 at 3:56pm

“BFF: Best Friends Forever” is Star Cinema’s latest movie offering starring the Comedy Box Office Queen Ai-ai de las Alas and Megastar Sharon Cuneta. This would be the first time that the two would be seen in the big screen. The comedy film is due for release in Philippine theaters on May 13.

In an interview, Ai-ai de las Alas shared that she considers the Megastar, as her “BFF (best friends forever)” while Kris Aquino as her “friendship.”

“Kasi hindi ako inaaway ni Senator (Kiko Pangilinan, Sharon’s husband). Charing lang! Si Kris kasi matagal ko na siyang friend since ‘yun nga, ayaw naman sa akin ni James Yap, so dun na ako sa may gusto sa akin.”

James Yap, Kris Aquino’s husband accused de las Alas before of snooping with the couple’s (James and Kris) past affairs.

Although Aquino and de las Alas have already made up, the latter said that her friendship with Sharon Cuneta started way back 2003.

“Siyempre bati na kami ni Friendship (Kris). Pero kasi noon pa kami close ni Mega hindi lang kasi nabigyan ng pagkakataon na ma-telebisyon ‘yung friendship namin. ‘Yung sa amin ni Friendship on national television, nagtatawagan kami ng Friendship,” the comedienne clarified.

The cast of Star Cinema’s Mother’s Day offering also includes John Estrada, Gina Pareño, Chokoleit, Empress Schuck, Enchong Dee and AJ Perez. But there are rumors that Sharon Cuneta’s former husband, Gabby Concepcion will make a cameo appearance on the movie.

“Hindi ko pa alam. Natanong ko na ‘yan . Ang tanong ko na lang ‘Saan isisingit si Gabby?’ Pero if ever ready naman ako, of course. Sino naman ang tatanggi kay Gabby? Hindi ko lang alam saan sa istorya siya ilalagay kasi natapos ko na ‘yung ending. Halos tapos na ‘yung buong pelikula. Ang hindi na lang nakukunan ‘yung mga sundot-sundot na eksena. Hindi pa naman impossible, aaralin ko lang kung paano,” Director Wenn Deramas said.

Star Cinema’s “BFF: Best Friends Forever” is opening in Philippine theaters this May 13.

In the upcoming Star Cinema film starring Sarah Geronimo and Rayver Cruz, it was reported that Toni Gonzaga would also be part of the film but as a supporting actress.

The news has shocked the fans of Toni Gonzaga saying that “bankability” and “popularity-wise” the actress shouldn’t be portraying support roles.

But when the singer-actress was asked to give his side on the issue, the actor said: “Wala po akong problema sa mga roles na ibinibigay sa akin kasi ang importatnte po sa akin eh magtrabaho kasi mahal ko naman yung ginagawa ko and wala pong problem. Sana wag nilang gawan ng isyu yun and maliit lang yung industriya na pinagtra-trabahuan namin.

“Yes kasi I’m very honored to work with anybody especially Sarah kasi napakabait niya, kasama ko siya sa ASAP and she deserves all the blessings and all the success. Masaya ako para sa kanya.

“Saka ako naman, ever since, wala akong naging problem sa billing, sa roles na ibinibigay sa akin. Kasi ang importante sa akin ay trabaho. Mahal ko ang ginagawa ko, so wala namang problema. Sana huwag nilang gawan ng isyu ‘yan. Maliit lang ang industriya na pinagtatrabahuan natin saka wala naman talaga kasing issue in the first place,” the actress added.

Star Cinema’s “You Changed My Life” has reportedly earned more than P 216, 300,000.00 during its four-week run in Philippine theaters and has exceeded the P 179, 230, 000.00 earnings of its prequel A Very Special Love.

Star Cinema brings suspense-horror film

Star Cinema brings suspense-horror film “T2″ this Summer

Posted on 30 Mar 2009 at 9:08pm

Following the success of “Feng Shui” and “Sukob,” Star Cinema is set to release a new suspense-horror film this summer. “T2 (Tenement 2)” is Star Cinema’s latest offering starring the Diamond Star Maricel Soriano and directed by Chito S. Roño, who has been known for directing box-office hit films. The film would be showing in theaters nationwide starting April 11.

Eric Fructuoso, Derek Ramsay and young star Mica dela Cruz join the diamond star in this suspense-horror film. Mosang, Camille Prats, Mon Confiado, K Brosas, and Tetchie Agbayani complete the cast of the said upcoming film while John Lloyd Cruz and Carmen Soo were given cameo roles.

“T2” is a story of Clair (played by Maricel Soriano), a travel agency owner and volunteer to Buklod-Pamilya Foundation. She brings an orphan home only to find out the orphan is from a family of “engkantos”.

“T2 is a serious horror drama tungkol sa engkwentro ng tao at mga engkanto… Usually, ‘pag sinabi nating engkanto sa mga pelikula kalimitan or almost every movie that I’ve seen is very fantasy. For the first time siguro, Star Cinema brings to the Filipino audience ‘yong actual naming na-research based sa mga interviews, based sa mga nagkaroon ng claims ng engkwentro or experience . Ito ‘yong exciting sa T2 kasi first time ipapakita kung papano ba sila sa totoong buhay, hindi sa fantasy,” said director Chito S. Roño as he shares the difference of T2 with any other horror films.

Meanwhile, young star Mica dela Cruz expressed enthusiasm about working with the diamond star, Maricel Soriano.

“Nu’ng una po sobrang excited. Nu’ng una ko po siyang na-meet nasabi ko, wow! Ang sarap po pala n’yang kasama. Magaling talaga siya. Sobrang galing po n’ya. ‘Pag laki ko gusto ko siyang tularan.”

Mica dela Cruz is an incoming fourth grader at the La Cabisera de Montessori in Malabon. She is also seen regularly at the Sunday kiddie show, “Goin’ Bulilit.”

“Alam mo tuwing nagsho-shooting kami, bago kami mag-take, sandali lang kinikilabutan ako kasi parang may mga umpisang eksena na parang hindi ko pa alam pero ninerbiyos ako, nakakakilabot, kahit sa tototong shooting namin,” said diamond star Maricel Soriano as she shares her experiences in shooting the film.

Star Cinema’s “T2” would be shown in theaters nationwide starting Saturday, April 11, 2009.

Vilma Santos also shared that actress Angel Locsin, Luis’ girlfriend might join them in New York.
