(UPDATE)—During the season five finale of the medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy,” viewers were left on the edge of their seats when Katherine Heigl’s character Izzie Stevens flat lined after her successful brain surgery while T.R. Knight’s character George O’Malley was hit by a bus and suffered grave trauma.
I have already expressed on my previous articles published here at Brink Notes Entertainment Daily that last few episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy” season five were really depressing for me. I couldn’t see anyone leave the show.
There rumors that Heigl and Knight would be leaving the shows. The producers chose not react on the issue.
I’ve been anxiously waiting for the premiere of “Grey’s Anatomy” season six to know the fate of both characters. But, The Hollywood Reporter website, quoting an unnamed source, reported that Katherine would be back on the show while T.R. Knight won’t return on the next season.
ABC didn’t comment regarding the casting of their flagship drama series.
Will the flat-lining Izzie Stevens be revived while George O’Malley will finally go and follow the “light?”
I’m happy about this development but a bit sad at the same time. Although it is still unconfirmed, it would be great to keep Katherine on the show. But, T.R. Knight’s character dying is a big loss.
George and Izzie are known to be “best friends” and wouldn’t be boring if Izzie has no one to mingle with?
Well, just by looking at the trauma that George suffered, I think it would be impossible to bring him back to his old physical appearance. So sad.
But still, I’m looking for the season premiere of “Grey’s Anatomy.” I miss this show! I’m also excited to know how producers will deal with Ellen Pompeo’s character for Ellen is pregnant with first child. What will happen to Meredith Grey?
Meanwhile, T.R. Knight sent a statement to USMagazine.com confirming that he is leaving the show. The statement reads:
“Leaving Grey’s Anatomy was not an easy decision for me to make. I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to play this character and will miss my fellow cast and crew very much.
“I continue to wish them the very best, and wholeheartedly thank all of the fans who have supported me and the show with such passion and enthusiasm.”
Shonda Rimes, show creator and executive producer also released a statement that says: “I think I speak for the entire Grey’s Anatomy family when I say we wish T.R. Knight the best in his future endeavors. He is an incredibly talented actor and a person whose strength of character is admired by all of us.”

The past episodes of Grey’s Anatomy have been very depressing for me. Since the March 12th episode, it has been normal that I become teary-eyed after each episode (What a sissy, this Jeric!). The subplot that Izzie (Katherine Heigl) is dying because of her stage IV metastatic melanoma is just heartbreaking. I like the Izzie character despite her flaws and many issues in life. She’s lovely and she’s not just any other blond out there.
But, will she really die?
There are so many rumors that have been going around that Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight would be leaving the show. I love the Izzie and George characters! Although I enjoy the “lesbo actions” in season five (especially the Arizona and Callie “thing”), it would be very sad to see Izzie and George go.
The Grey’s Anatomy News blog reported: “Katherine Heigl has apparently stated that she’ll remain with the show if the network decides to keep her.”
I just hope that this stage IV metastatic melanoma is not Izzie’s “exit strategy.” But wait, if Izzie and George will leave the show then what would be George’s “exit strategy”?
I’m not actually excited for the upcoming “big” wedding on the show. Yes, Meredith and Derek would get married soon. Some are speculating that the two would be married during the 100th episode of the show (is it on May 7)? Oh, I think it was Shonda Rimes who said that.
So what? Save Izzie Stevens! I’m just not ready to see someone leave the show.
