Idol finalists sing popular movie theme songs0 comments

Remaining 7 finalists of the hit Fox show American Idol sang popular movie theme songs on the Tuesday performance night (Wednesday Philippine time). Quentin Tarantino made an appearance as the finalists’ mentor.

Host Ryan Seacrest has announced that only two judges will give comments after each performance, instead of four to save airtime.

Allison Iraheta opened the performance with the song “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing.” Judge Paula and Simon liked the performance. Steven Van Zandt who was at the audience and gave Iraheta a standing ovation.

“Everything I Do, I Do It For You” was Anoop Desai’s song choice for this week. Randy congratulated Anoop saying that he has found his “zone.” Kara applauded Anoop for “adding soul” into the performance.

Adam Lambert sang Steppenwolf’s “Born to be Wild” which Paula saying, “Take it all in, my dear.” The reason, Adam that you’re shaking up this whole competition is that you dare to dance in the path of greatness. However, Simon said that although the performance was great vocally, it was like watching The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Matt Giraud sang “Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?” while playing the piano. Randy thought Giraud over sung the song. Kara agreed with Randy.

Singing “Endless Love” this week is Danny Gokey. Paula thought the performance was beautiful while Simon was disappointed with the arrangement of the song.

“Falling Slowly” is Kris Allen’s song choice. Randy thought the performance was pitchy all the way. Kara said it was an obscure song.

Last to sing that night was Lil Rounds with the song “The Rose.” Paula emphasized the song’s beautiful lyrics, but Simon said, You are not the artist I believe we met seven or eight weeks ago.”
