GMA Network’s adaptation of “Zorro” starring Richard Gutierrez and Rhian Ramos will the hit Philippine television starting Monday, March 23, 2009. Mark Reyes directs the series. This would be Richard’s comeback to primetime television after the GMA-7’s television series “Codename: Asero” in 2008.

“Zorro” would be Richard and Rhian’s second onscreen team-up where they will give life to the characters Antonio dela Vega/Zorro and Lolita. The two were first seen in GMA-7’s “Captain Barbell.”

Richard underwent series of trainings for fencing and horseback riding.

“I realized that fencing is an intricate sport. The movements have to be precise. You must be graceful because it’s like choreography,” Richard said in an interview with Philippine Star columnist Ricky Lo.

Richard as well as the other cast members attended a workshop with renowned director Peque Gallaga for the series is set in the 1900s.

The cast of the Philippine adaptation of “Zorro” includes Michelle Madrigal, Bianca King, Jomari Yllana, TJ Trinidad, Eddie Gutierrez, Jacklyn Jose, Joel Torre, Leo Martinez, Pinky Marquez, Lani Mercado, Ricky Davao, Mark Gil, Bobby Andrews, Antonio Aquitana, Robert “Buboy” Villar, Jeffrey “Epi” Quizon, Sandy Andolong among others.
